Best Value for Money Gaming Laptop vs Gaming PC

Hi OZB'ers

I need some perspective on which way to go on whether to spend a bit less on a gaming laptop or spend a bit more and get similar specs on a gaming PC.

I am only looking for entry/medium level specs for what I am trying to do and I noticed JB Hi-Fi has the two options below which are both on special.

I would be keen to hear which way I should go.

Firstly don't buy your desktop/laptop from JB or HN - buy online and you'll save.

Secondly will you be moving around a lot gaming? If not, desktop is always the way to go.

If you do decide on desktop, lookout for a TechFast deal. It's been a while since Luke has posted anything, but those 3060 deals would blow that 1650 out of the water.

I bought my Laptop ages ago ( now being replaced by a Desktop, as I was no longer able to salary sacrifice a laptop ) from Kong Computers

    • Agree on the Metabox Laptops. Great value at online stores, underrated.

Purchased one in 2014 from another Store, still going strong. Battery doesn't hold a charge anymore but that's inevitable after 7 years. Kid still plays Fortnite on it.

  • desktops will last longer and are far easier to upgrade, a laptop has a shorter lifespan, especially when used for gaming. they are "gaming laptops" but all those components will experience more heat than a properly ventilated desktop which will lower the lifespan. i used to game on laptops, but i have had more success with desktops.
