Any Suggestion about a Good Bluetooth Headset to receive Calls While Working from Home?

Most of the calls I get are from Microsoft teams or zoom apps, not on the phone.

Appreciate any recommendations in this context.

I don’t have many others to compare it with, but my QC35s perform well on calls.

    Jabra Evolve2 65

    • Isn't this wired? I was looking for bluetooth or wireless

      • No, it's not.

      • It isn't. I have one and it is Bluetooth with an adaptor to connect to a PC.

I would recommend, I upgraded from an old plantronics headset and moved to a Jabra Evolve 65 and it is fantastic. Works on my iPhone as well as PC using video calls, I would highly recommend.

Plantronics gear is pretty good overall if you want an actual headset. Or a dedicated bluetooth ear piece from jabra as opposed to say - AirPods or galaxy equiv.)

On the hand some people seem to get by with cheapy wireless buds from soundpeats and similar which are sub $35 - so I guess it depends on your definition on call quality

I got a Plantronics Voyager with the charging case, and it's been working a treat for more than a year now. Comfortable, light and tiny so I can tuck it easily into a drawer when work is done. It can also pair with your phone simultaneously for your personal calls.

    However note the following caveats:

    • I also had to get an aftermarket bluetooth USB dongle to get it working properly - it would not play nice with the built-in BT on my laptop, often garbling the sound - and it took some fiddling after that to make sure the headset paired with the USB BT rather than the built-in BT.
    • It only gets 4 to 6 hours of talk time on a full charge, so don't get this if your job regularly involves full workdays of calls

depends on the budget, i got $18 Laser one (from BIGW) and $200 Sony 1000XM3 (got from a Sony seconds deal), both are ok for calls.
I earlier had a $16 one from K-Mart as well, which was little better than the Laser one.
But Sony 1000XM3 is the easiest to wear for a long time, almost feels like nothing.

tip: if you are using the mic on any BT headset, it will work only in HSP, not with the A2DP profile. So, if you need better quality audio, you should use another mic and select speaker only to BT headset

    • I have Sony 1000 MW model. I use it only to listen music, and never used it to make calls as I found it was creating echo. What do I need to do to fix it? Do I need to buy additional mic?

no you don't need to buy a mic and it should work perfectly. you just need to select mic and speakers in zoom, teams or any app with the option to select mic/speaker or globally in windows to use Sony one.

considering "echo", may be you have enabled "mic play though the spearkers" on windows sound settings.
as in this screenshot, "Listen to this device" should be unticked.

          Thanks so much.

    • Of all the options I tried for work calls, the 1000mx3 was actually the worst received …

I use these SoundPeats from Amazon with Teams (and for music) and have no complaints. They last all day and then some. Cost me $43. They're always going on sale.

    • Thank you. Looks like it has a lot of good reviews

  • QC35 or Sennheiser momentum 3
