Upgradable-to-Gaming PC Under $1000 That Can Be Bought Today?

Hi All,

Need to help a friend build a PC. At the moment he won't get the graphics card but get everything else. No peripherals needed. Doesn't need OS.

Because I'm Melbourne Based and the postal system is a mess I need another system builder to do it as he needs it ASAP. This is what I came up with from Scorptec:

1 X AMD Ryzen 3 3300X (Base: 3.80GHz, Boost: 4.30GHz / 18MB Cache / AM4 / 4 Core / 65 Watt / Wraith Stealth Cooler / Matisse, RZ3KCPU)
1 X Gigabyte A520M AORUS ELITE MB, A520, 4x DDR4, 1x PCIe3.0 x16, 1x M.2 PCIe/SATA, 2x USB 3.2 Gen1, HDMI, DVI, mATX
1 X EVGA SuperNOVA G5 650W Modular Power Supply, 80 PLUS Gold, 1x EPS, 3x PCI-E (6P+2P), 6x SATA, 4x Molex, 1x Floppy, 135mm FDB Fan, ECO Mode
1 X Crucial Ballistix 16GB (2x8GB) PC-25600 (3200MHz) DDR4, CL16, 16-18-18-36, 1.35v, Unbuffered, Gaming Memory Black
1 X Toshiba 1TB P300 3.5" Hard Drive, SATA III, 7200RPM, 64MB Cache, CMR
1 X Antec VSK4000B Black ATX Case, No PSU, 2 x USB 3.0, Front I/O Audio, 9xDrive Bays, 1x 120mm Fan pre-installed, Black interior
1 X Kingston 250GB SSD, KC2500, M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe Gen3, Read up to 3,500MB/s, Write up to 1,500MB/s, IOPS R/W up to 375/300K, 2M Hours MTBF, 150TBW

Can anyone suggest something better? Pref with a lower build cost? I like Scorptec as they aren't horrible about warranty.

Thanks

    • +1 for the parts list, you'd be silly not to get an APU so you can play some tings in the meantime.
I can build one for you OP if you're in SA

        • +1 too. PM if you need help with the assembly.

also +1 - the 5600G is going to let him play games now/set everything up AND its a great CPU overall for performance. (I'm running a 5600X)

I'm also a big fan of the smaller form factor - a Micro ATX, unless you plan to have like 30 spinning disks or a AIO Cooler, its not necessary to get a full ATX.

  • Thank you everyone, i've suggested he go with that.
