Has Anyone Got a Telstra Prepaid Plan with an Esim

I'm looking to get a Telstra prepaid plan with an eSIM as a secondary number for my phone.
Telstra chat say that prepaid is not available with an eSIM but the chat agents are not known to be the most reliable.
Whirlpool FAQ and the discussion board seem to indicate that at least some people have managed to get eSIMs for their prepaid plans

Has anyone here managed to get an eSIM for their Telstra prepaid plan? If so how did you go about it? The MyTelstra app doesn't let me convert my prepaid plan to eSIM.

Thanks

  • Just go to a Telstra store and ask for the eSim. They will associate the eSim to your number.

Have done it many times. Only takes a minute or two. Faster than asking Livechat to mail it to you.

  • Their chat agent told me it is easy to do on my 30$/6months plan. Which I did not do because I do not have an esim-capable phone just yet (which the agent tried to sell in the same chat) :)

  • I'm on the Prepaid $300 12-month plan, activated last week.
I went to Telstra store and the team member was really helpful. She gave me the QR code to scan but no success so gave me another one. This time all good. What I can tell is that no matter what plan you're on (prepaid/postpaid), it's possible to transfer to e-sim. The support team via chat is totally clueless, keep saying that it's not yet available for Prepaid plan. You know what they want, pushing you to the postpaid.

If you wanna move to E-sim:
    1. Updating/Reinstalling the Telstra app, the Transfer e-sim option will appear (like other people mentioned above).
    2. If still not working, go straight to their store and ask them to do it for you.

  • Yes, I have previously used Telstra prepaid on e-sim.
Was a quick process to do from mytelstra app.
