iPhone 4 16GB for $200 OR SGS2 for $350??

Hi ozbargainers,

So i'm in the fortunate position of being able to buy either an iPhone 4 16GB for $200 or a Samsung Galaxy S2 for $350 (got these deals through family etc). Here are some facts:

  • They are both used. iPhone is in excellent condition and SGS2 is in very good condition too except for a scratch on the back of it (but it's not major).

  • I already have a 32GB sd card so iPhone would be 16GB while SGS2 would be 32GB

  • I have to drive out further to get the SGS2, let's say $10 extra in petrol costs (hey, this is ozbargain..)

If they were same price or small difference I would go with SGS2 as it's a better phone… but at $200 the iPhone is very tempting. Other thing is that if I drop it then iPhones tend to break easier as they are made of glass, which would incur repair costs and might bring it up to the about the same price level anyway…

Thanks for your help!

  • Do you have a mac? Do you tend to change your phone frequently? If so, I'd go for the iPhone 4.

    • Got a PC and no I don't change very frequently… whichever I go with I would keep for a while

    Grab both

    seems a bargain?

  • if your getting the SGII, Id be willing to grab the iphone off ya for $250 . Pm me if interested :)

  • For personal use, would go iPhone, because some of the apps have richer content, eg. ABC, CNBC. For business use, would go SG2. A friend with a business has one and he is very happy with it, because of the easy & tight integration of its features, eg. contacts & locations.

  • Both are very good price, if you're going for either, I'd be happy to buy the other one. Let me know if you can. Thanks! :)

Buy both and sell off the iP4 for >$200 and make some profit.

  • May i ask where this $200 iphone is? :D. or is it a single item?

  • Other thing is that if I drop it then iPhones tend to break easier as they are made of glass

I hope you realise that almost all phone's screens are made of glass and will crack if you drop them?

The REAR of an iPhone 4 is glass, but that is a $10 fix (just 2 screws and it slides off, like almost any other phone).

I honestly wouldn't say that an iPhone is any mnore likely to crack than any other phone. But I never drop my phones, and am not prepared to do it just to find out.

  • Would go for the GS2

  • i want the iphone 4 for 200 too
