    What subscription?

This is important. Some subs can be found cheaper if you bypass the Apple. Legitimate.

      • Too much pain to jailbreak for 1 app

          It's not jailbreaking.

Eg. Netflix via App Store is $X, Netflix via PC is $Y cheaper.

Apple stopped selling the App Store & iTunes gift card in Australia nearly three months ago. You may find some third-party retailers (e.g. Target) are still selling App Store & iTunes gift cards, but do not expect to see any discounts for them in the future. Gift card distributors are slowly reclaiming these gift cards from retailers, so they may not be on store shelves for much longer.

The gift card you are after is the Apple gift card. There are two kinds of deals for this gift card:

    • Discounts or cashback through gift card portals.

You will only get around 4-5% discount or cashback on Apple gift cards through these portals, but these deals are available everyday. Refer to the Apple entry on the discounted gift card page (linked in another comment above) for more details.

A couple of these portals (e.g. Reward Gateway, HCF Thank You) have restricted access, whereas the other portals (e.g. Redeem Your Gift Card, Shopback) are accessible by anyone.

    • Loyalty programme bonuses at retailers.

Since the introduction of the Apple gift card in Australia, Woolworths and BIG W have run three deals where you received bonus Everyday Rewards points for each dollar you spent on Apple gift cards.

If you opted into Everyday Rewards Dollars as your redemption option, you would get 15% of the gift card face value back as bonus Everyday Rewards Dollars.

There are currently no active bonus points deals at third-party retailers; it is safe to assume there will be another one in the future, but who knows when and at which retailer!
