S21 Ultra Cracked Screen Options

Dropped my phone and it landed flat but must have hit some small pebble or something so it cracked from a central impact point.
There are permanent light pixels at the point from the crack too. First phone screen I've ever cracked in 20 years

Samsung is quoting $510 to repair

At this point using trade in (value $95 with damaged screen lol) plus the bonus $500 and then the extra $200 for damaged phone upgrade voucher and the extra $50 it would cost me $799 for a brand new ultra 256 or $954 for the flip 3 256 (flip is only bonus 300 on top of trade in)

Thoughts?

Also what would be the rough value of the damaged phone on ebay? there's 2 sellers with unrealistic prices at the moment.

    Oof.. no Samsung Care I take it? Or any other insurance?

    People scrambling at the moment with last minute codes, might not be an option

      No unfortunately not. Cost of care and the screen would be $124 for the discounted care plan at time of purchase and then $299 for the swap - $424. so almost cost of a new screen replacement!

    get a quote from an independent repair shop? 500 dollars is ridiculous, it sounds like they are trying to be the android version of apple, warts and all.

      I think its actually cheaper to repair a screen at Apple now lol. Especially their older phones. Even their battery replacement is almost the same as getting an independent to do it now. However with the 13, looks like Apple is going to jack up screen replacements as only they will be able to do it

    How did you pay for it? I paid mine using AMEX which comes with screen replacement insurance.

    $510 cost of replacement screen / 20 years of not breaking a screen = $25.50 per year = $0.07 cents per day. If you break it down it's not a bad outcome to just replace the screen.

    It's all in the mindset!

      True. Was thinking of even just waiting and not repairing. There was some rumour that S22 could be launched as early as end of December this year. Although judging by all the S21 deals…the discounts were actually slightly better in July after the end of financial year deals. Made it the same costs if not better than the 50% vouchers the sales ppl at JB and Harvey were selling off (once you factored in the cost of buying the voucher)

    Have you got the $200 damaged phone voucher?
    I havent been able to get onto chat to get one for the last 3 days.

    The sale ends tonight at midnight.

      Ohhh didn't realise the sale ended tonight. Although you realise they just keep extending it. Or there's a week or so without extra discount and then it's back again. Fingers crossed they keep going. Let's hope with the leak of the S22 releasing earlier they will try and clear inventory.

        Everything is out of stock on their website. I would suggest inventory is pretty low. Unless they have more in factories overseas to restock our market.
