Need Parts for an Old Midea MSB-18HR Air Conditioner

I need a barrel fan for an old A/C split system. The model on the outdoor unit is MSB-18HR, not sure about the inside unit. Been told the barrel fan has gone, but they are having trouble finding a replacement.

No where on the unit does it actually say Midea, but the model number in google seems to suggest that model is. It predates Midea's official presence in Australia it seems, so when I contacted them they didn't seem to know about it.

Any help anyone can provide is much appreciated. Thanks.

There's a Midea store in Chatswood NSW. Maybe try giving them a call and see if they can assist you.
    Good luck!

I'm willing to bet my ozbargain platinum membership that they won't know sh!t and will probably try and sell you a faulty electric blanket.

      • Yeah that's what I figured, I've already gone to Midea head office and they didn't know

Have you tried Big Warehouse Spares?

    https://spares.bigwarehouse.com.au/

I've purchased random parts for random things from these guys many times. You could show them a photo of the AC and they might be able to help.

    Good luck.

    • I didn't call them, but I did check online and under Midea > Air Conditioners they didn't have that model, however I guess that might just mean they need to match on the part number, which I don't have. I guess a photo might help in that case but I also don't have one handy.

It still might be worth phoning them. They may have stocked parts for that model previously, and might be aware of which current parts will fit that older model.

They once sent me an exploded diagram of all the parts contained in a fridge so I could pick the exact part I was after. They seem to have quite a bit of knowledge about parts.

I was also able to order a new agitator for a washing machine that was at least 10 years old if not more.

Maybe try getting into contact with this mob?

Posted a fair few midea deals.

    • Hey just spoke to them, the guy was nice and helpful, and basically he said that Midea is a dead end for spare parts.

Are you after the fan or the fan assembly with the motor? Being a Chinese domestic brand you may have some luck with Aliexpress. I'd also assume this fan would be shared with few different models of theirs so perhaps don't narrow your search down to the exact model number or worst case go with something with identical dimensions regardless of the brand.

I think the technical term for this is "Cross Flow Fan"

    • I tried to look up cross flow fan and while there are some hits on ali as soon as you add midea you get nothing. The unit is actually at my place interstate so I'm in a bit of a pickle regarding getting it out/measuring it etc. That's why I was hoping there's be a part number that I can just find

Maybe try a universal or generic fan that looks right with the right measurements?

Maybe the sellers name might give some cause for optimism?

    • Thanks I have messaged him to find out
