GOTY is $5.90 on Russian GOG for those who do the vpn thing.

    • +2

      or Ukrainian.

the lifetime VPN I bought in 2016 dropped a lot of locations incl Russia, and Ukraine is the next best thing it seems. same price

also cheap way to get things like Horizon Zero Dawn etc. old news

      • FYI: NordVPN killed their Russian servers as the government required reporting on Russian citizens using the service.

        • I see. well OK Ukrainian VPN worked a treat for me. ended up grabbing Witcher 3 GOTY and Disco Elysium for $20 AUD all up

          solid.

Brazil is cheaper and pay in USD.

    • Do you have to create a new russian account to do this?

      • +1

        nah. I did this:

        1. VPN to location of your choice (Ukraine in my case)
        2. open GOG in a private (incognito whatever) tab
        3. stuff the games you want into the basket, make sure pricing is sweet
        4. log in using your GOG credentials
        5. check out (used PayPal)
        6. once order is complete, close private/incognito tabs
        7. disconnect VPN
        8. download games and game away

Any ETA for the remastered version. Itching to play this but figure it would be worth waiting for the revamp.

    • +3

For anyone interested, apparently they're aiming to have it released by the end of this year. Whether they hit that target or not is another thing. CDPR have also states that the remastered version will be a free upgrade for anyone that owns the original game.

    • Yep im waiting for the revamped edition to sink my teeth into it for the first time. Just hope its this year as my Skyrim playthrough is coming to an end

Just installed and played a bit, CPU usage < 10% and GPU usage 100% at 1080p Ultra settings, seems like a really optimized game :D

    • +7

It's extremely well optimised. Open world games are GPU bottlenecked. Turn hairworks off, which was the Nvidia gimmick at the time to make people upgrade, and tweak the three-four settings that impact GPU performance, and you can run on almost-Ultra with even budget cards.

      • +2

Thanks a lot for the tips. I will try with hairworks off as currently running with hairworks on and set all other to ultra. I was getting 55 to 60 fps most of the time. I couldn't find a way to disable 60 fps limiter. VRAM usage is about 2 GB similar to that article and most of the time CPU usage is around 5%. I would say this is a master piece in regards with graphics and optimisation. It was a pitty that Cyberpunk wasn't upto this standard.

    • Do you think for some reason the cpu and gpu usage should match?

    Same price two years ago

I've been playing the Witcher 3 on my partner's steam family account but want to buy my own copy. Can Steam game saves be transferred to GOG at all?

    • +4

Seems like they both use the same folder for saves according to this and this

      • Thanks so much that would be great! Wonder if I'd need to also re-download it :')

        • +2

Game should be DRM-free. You don’t have to buy the game again and just launch the executable instead of via Steam.

  • This games getting a next gen update soon right?

    • minor update that will be free to people who already own the game (on pc at least)

the update is a few extra costumes/skins (including making geralt make look more like the show) but supposedly no new missions or anything like that.

      • My impression is a technical upgrade (Ssd optimisation) as well as a graphics upgrade.

If you miss this sale -
It does get to $15.80 aud very often on steam too for the GOTY version - https://steamdb.info/sub/124923/

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Game of the Year Edition is the complete package, including the Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine expansions, and all the individual pieces of DLC that have been released since the game first came out.

"Considering the main game will probably run you around 100+ hours, before you count the relatively large Hearts of Stone DLC (included in the GOTY version) and the much larger Blood and Wine DLC (also included)… it’s hard to think of any other game that comes close to the value-per-dollar currently offered by The Witcher 3 GOTY."

I’m playing this on my phone and MacBook Air through the beta testing of GeForce now by pentanet. I’m literally blown away. My internet speed is not even fast and can play this game on the cloud. Amazing

  • I give CPDR enough $$$ playing gwent. Happy enough to buy Witcher 3 GOTY from Brazil for AUD$ 5.55 thanks OP
