R32 GTR Alternator Rebuild/Restoration

So OZB brainstrust, I need some help. I’ve been helping out a mate of mine with his ‘92 R32 GTR and he’s been trying to find a business that can help with a full rebuild of the alternator (needs a good clean and rebuild as something has gone dodgy with it).

I was wondering if anyone in this community knows of or can recommend a suitable business? We’re located in South West Sydney so something local would be a massive bonus.

      I guess it depends if a full rebuild means rewinding?

      Surely it's cheaper to just get a new one from Nissan?

    Depending on what the problem is, sometimes you can just change out the alternator regulator, particularly if it's overcharging. If you've got a diode rectifier bridge fault, then it's cheaper just to get a new or third party alternator. Was cheaper for me to buy a new Bosch alternator than to get an auto elec to investigate my alternator. Also check all ground connections.

    Being a Nissan it’s quite possible that you could get an exchange unit. Hard to imagine it’ll be much different from anything else they’ve installed to other models. Take it into an appropriate place and walk out with a reconditioned one immediately.

    Ring a few local auto sparkles.

    My battery light came on in my commodore out the middle of nowhere. Called the RAA, long story short, less usefull than tits on a bull.

    Ended up pulling the alternator out with the bare tools I had in the boot, pulled the brush strings to make contact again.

    Drove to the nearest town and bought a set of new brushes for $5.

    In summary, spend 40 mins and repair it. Not much too them at all.

    FPG (frenchys performance garage) make a quality LS kit.
    It can also be supplied with a quality Alternator unlike the PRP kit
