Best Place to Sell Electric Scooter

Long story short my mother and her partner have electric scooters that they would like to get rid of.

They aren't the basic Xiaomi or Ninebot ones, they paid about $2,500 and $4,000 respectively. They want to sell them but don't want to end up with Cash Converters prices like their friends did.

Any suggestions where one would go about selling them? Or is eBay/Gumtree our only real option?

I dont know if it's a good option for you , but Facebook marketplace is a reasonable place to sell as well. Lately I much prefer this as a seller and buyer than GT

    • yeah i tend to agree… you can check out their profile before agreeing to the sale BUT always accept cash only

I don't think you'll be seeing much money back on those prices. What are you hoping to get for them?

    • I mean realistically if I could get perhaps $4K back out of the $6.5K they've spent I'd consider that a win. Not sure if that's realistic or not.

    Damn, thats some serious scooters.
Anyways FB Marketplace and Gumtree would probably be best. Cash on pickup. Just be aware of scammers etc and u shud b good to go. Ebay…. the fees on really big ticket items will be pretty large.

Out of interest where did they buy them? Would they buy them back and sell them as used? I can’t see there being a lot of interest. Worth listing on FB market place and Gumtree. If you do, I would have a strict cash only, pick up in person only policy.

    • It was Scooter Hut. I don't think they'll buy them back to sell as used but we're looking into that.

Perhaps find a local escooter group on Facebook and advertise them there. Cash sale.

Second this. There's a large group, ScootMasters, which might be a good start.

    • That's a great idea actually, thanks for the tip! And yes, cash only for sure. I've been burner before by someone over a PayPal transaction.

  • What brand are they?

    • I'm not sure sorry.

  • One more generally reliable place - ozbargain classifieds. Same rules applies as gumtree and fb marketplace as everyone has mentioned above.

Smaller market though. And harder to get a good price when selling to professionals.
