iPhone Not Uploading Photos to iCloud?

I am not the Apple expert.

I have a mate to has filled up their iphone with photos and vids and refuses to delete any of them for emotional reasons. It's about 42gb's all up but they have never activated the automatic uploads to iCloud, so I set them up with the 50GB iCloud limit the other day and turned everything on. However it doesn't seem top be uploading the photos…kinda. In the photos section it does say 'uploading' and the blue bar has partially moved but seems 'stuck' for some reason. I have tried 'pause' and resume to no effect. Have also tried turning iCloud off/on, disconnecting from the wireless and reconnecting, restarting the phone etc. All to no seeming effect.

So I left it yesterday arvo about 5.30 and will cal them later this morning so see if it is still stuck.

The phone is also prompting for a system update but can't do it because there is no room on the phone. My cunning plan was to upload all the pics to the iCloud and then DL them on to an external HDD. Can I do that with iTunes instead?

Have any of you Apple guys had this problem and have any tips I can try?

Cheers

In general uploading photos/videos to iCloud is a slow process, 42GB might take one or two days depending on the internet connection.

However, what I would try is leaving the phone on a charger overnight and then going to icloud.com in a web browser to confirm that something is actually uploading (you can see your photos there).

OK thanks, I'll check on it this morning and see if there's been any progress.

(edit: OK just checked and it has progressed to 19% so I guess it is working albeit slowly. Thanks again)

  • may be your internet is slow..
just try with some another fast internet service..
42gb is quite a big size definitely it will take time to upload..

    • Cheers, no worries she got there in the end. :)
