  • I need to replace 4 tyres on our bikes for a couple of seaside holidays coming up.
Cheaper to just go and buy two new bikes.
    ROCK ON BIG DUB!

    • For $60 you can buy a pair of good quality tyres.

  • I think they are good enough for the price as I don't need a $200~$500 dollars one that I only use less than 70 times a year (52 weeks).
Well, for me a bike is just a walking replacement and I am not trying to have a riding competition with a car.

  • Just bought two of em. 1 of each. Mechanically they are the same, just the frame is slightly different. Took me 30min to assemble for the first one and 15min for the second one. Allen key and Phillips screw driver included. The tires are a bit flat, so they'd need pumping. Overall, it's better quality than I expected. I don't intend on going on road with these, only on off-road bike paths, so I should be fine. Gears are cheap Shimanos.

    • are they brake calipers decent solid lumps of alloy or are they thin?

    • I thought this price was from tomorrow only? Did you need any other tools other than the Allen key and screw driver they included?

      • yes you need a spanner of your own

        • Thanks, What size spanner is needed?

    • Which Big W did you go to and was it at $60 price alreaady?

      Thanks

      • I've found that before with our BigW… like the 2/1 DVDs.. days before the listed special start it was the advertised price. Easy enough with DVDs you aren't going to run out of… guess they aren't planning on running out of stock on the bikes either!

      How heavy are the bikes?

      • 18kg according to the box. Not that heavy really!

  • I bought two of them. Will only have time to put them together in a few days but they had two assembled on display in the store with no pedals. The quality is similar to some of the bikes they sell for $100-150. They are heavy but again, the more expensive ones don't seem much lighter. I think they will be fine for an occasional short ride.

Good stuff.. People who think these bikes are heavy are just weak

    • So I've put them together. The instructions are simple and easy to follow. Adjusting the brakes properly took me a bit of extra time. Overall, I am happy with the purchase. For the money saved I can buy some accessories now.

  • I went and had a look at them tonight and i must say, they seem much better than the bike i bought from target for $110 (usually $150).

I wish they would have had these a month ago when i couldnt find a cheap bike anywhere, even garage sales. these dont have front or rear suspension which is one of the things i hate about my bike (it bottoms out on even the smallest bump)

The frame seems decent, yes it is a bit heavy. but about the same as the other bikes they had at Big W. if anything ever went wrong with the gears you could just convert it to a fixie, lol.

Also, i would suggest you put it together yourself. it only took me about 30 minutes.

  • I bought one of these and its a solid and sturdy bike. I just came home from a 7km ride and it lasted the distance no problems. Only issue i have with it is that when turning, there is a chance of ur foot grazing the tyres since the front wheel is positioned very close to the pedals.

    • My bad…when i installed a kickstand tonight i realised my front forks where rotated the wrong way so the fork was curved in towards to body of the bike, hence the wheel felt close to the pedals. Reassembled it and now its all good!

Solid bike for $60…as good as the $160 ones lol!

      • Hi Can you give me some more info on this as I have the same issue.

        • Look at the picture on the big w website of the bikes. Will show you how its mean to be assembled.

      • Same here. haha. Rotated the front wheel all around and all good.

  • Bought two today, male and female. I'm 40 minutes+ into assembling the male one now, you need to read between the lines with the instructions. It's taking 40 minutes because it's missing the kickstand and at the factory they've put the handlebar brakes on the wrong way around, so I'll need to loosen + rotate the entire handlebar top so that you can actually reach your hands around. But they've put the allen screw in too tight, I can't loosen it even with a hammer banging on the edge, so I gotta either get some WD40 to try loosen it, or get a smaller allen key (not provided, I'll have to buy it) and have a crack at some of the smaller ones on the individual handlebar brakes.

I haven't taken a look at the one we got for my girlfriend, maybe I just got unlucky.

    • Mine is the same, just a bit better than yours. Maybe ours were assembled by the same worker. Hammer banging on the edge of the allen key worked eventually. But there's another problem with my bike. I noticed they put the front brakes behind the front forks, it's opposite to all of other bikes. I saw a lot of bikes' front brakes are positioned in front of the forks. Do I need to reassemble it? Anyone knows? It's a real challenge for me: ( I am a girl who has never done it or even had a careful look at bikes before.

try taking the handle bar off, rotating the fork so the brakes are on the front side (making sure the brake cable is not wrapped around the fork) and reattaching the handle bar

        • Oh, my god! I almost ride it out. How stupid I was! Now I see how funny my bike looks like! I did reckon it's the factory's fault. You are so smart! Thank you! I need to spend a lot of time on it again: (

      • I think they rotated the front fork just to save space when packaging. So before tightening the handle bar you have to rotate the fork 180 degrees. This step is ommited in the assembly instructions. Maybe they thought it would be obvious. If you look at the last picture of the assembly instructions, you will see the front brake is in front of the front fork.

  • SCAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARY

  • I got totally ripped off by Big W. Bought one of these on the 15th of March and was told to pick it up friday (i paid the $16 for assembly). When i called it wasn't ready so I called again monday and it was ready so i went to pick it up, and they couldn't find it. I was told to come back this friday. Today i call them and they can't find my bike.

What a waste of time. They wasted 2 of my trips to the store (via train) and now they have lost my bike, probably gave it to someone else.
