Changing The Top Tether Latch Position - Baby Car Seat

Hi all,

Can anyone help me understand how to change the position of this latch tether from left to right for the baby car seat? It needs to be on the opposite side so that I can loosen the strap when putting my baby in.

Baby is still one and a half months away…so want to make sure I have this sorted before arrival.

Thanks for any help!

  • Aaah.
I remember also thinking about loosening the strap. Eventually we just got used to putting the baby over the strap

Or you can loosen at the top tether itself and not the seat. Maybe unbuckle the top tether each time.

I don't think you can move it

  • How did it end up there?

That buckle is meant to be on the opposite side, hence the pouch for excess belt after tightening.

    • I went and got it installed at babybunting for $ 40. But I had got it installed behind the driver's seat - so not an issue if the seat is behind the driver's seat. Also the installer at Baby Bunting said we could have it installed anywhere and its not against regulations etc.

Fast forward to few weeks later (now), I want it behind the passenger seat.

      • I see. Because the buckle is default to the opposite side.

        Might want to try youtube

      • We installed our own baby seat, so you could DIY to move it behind the passenger seat. Most people with just one kid in a baby seat put it behind the passenger seat as it’s easier to get bub out if your parked on a street (ie not needing to stand in the traffic) and it’s easier to see bub and pass them things eg toys or snacks (you’ll be surprised how quickly that comes around).

  • interesting, my 2 britax's buckle are on the other side, the side you want. Ours is also rear facing, and on passenger side, so it happened to work for us. Though one of seat's strap is flipped/crossed like your first pic, would be nice to unflip, but will prob become front facing soon so it'll be moot.

You will need to go to someone to do this otherwise it 'voids' your warranty/they can't guarantee safety blabla. If you email Britax they will send you a list of people that they authorise to do in your area. I swapped 2 of my car seat tethers around bc of 2nd baby, only cost me $20 for both (YMMV depending on location) . I did do the babylove Ezy switch before myself and it was bloody difficult and many broken nails and cuss words later lol.

Edit : hmm, I did change mine from right to left (drivers side), not sure how yours did a flip, but to be safe I rather go check with an authorised person. Might be free if all they need to do is flip it around lol

Edit 2 : so weird, I remember I sold my first Graphene seat because I wanted the tether on the passengers side, and my new seat I paid someone to change it to the drivers side. Maybe they just assemble it in whatever way when it's manufactured lol.

    You've done something wrong OP

FYI you haven't installed the seat correctly for rear facing, you'll need to pull the bar up and press the button underneath to put it on a more horizontal angle. Easy mistake to make.
Check this vid if you haven't already.

    This video covers the buckle.

    • That bar is up - it is just not shown in the picture.

For now I have moved the seat behind the driver's seat and the issue I posted above is not an issue anymore. I viewed the second video and I will try to sort it out soon.

If worse comes to worse, I will just go back to baby bunting and have them install it again.

Save the $40, it's super easy to do yourself especially if your car has isofix. Takes me less than 5 minutes to do the seatbelt install now haha. Just practice before the baby comes as you'll most likely be moving the seats around and save some money.

Wouldnt mess with the actual changing tether though.

    • Cheers for this, this is easy, will fix my twist.

  • Being on the driver's side is actually the safest, as in an accident the driver steers away from themselves

Also, best to learn how to install and change it yourself
