Churning through Succession of Citibank Issued/Backed Credit Cards?

Have exhausted most credit card sign up bonus offers leaving mainly Citibank issued cards from a variety of brands (e.g. Qantas Premier, Citibank, Suncorp, Coles Rewards) as potential options. I've heard from some people that it might be harder to churn through Citibank issued cards as they will be less likely to approve you if you've gone through a few of these cards in succession (even if cancelling and reapplying for the next).

Is there any truth to this that Citibank 'wisens up to churners'? Has anyone had success in churning through multiple Citibank backed credit cards in succession? If so how many cards were you able to get approved for one after the other and what were the gaps (time-wise) between each card?

Thanks

Citibank are just a pain to deal with regardless

But to answer your question I applied for a citibank branded card churned it cancelled and applied for a kogan immediately after got approved no issue

Qantas money is next, yet to apply thou

Defs the strategy I use but, I leave citibank till very last unless theres a deal going I have to jump at straight away

  • I thought Citi were selling up their retail operations in Australia? I guess no-one wants it.

Several years back I churned the Citi Velocity card (I forget its name but it used to come with $64 velocity credit, around 40k in points and was free in the first year) 4 times in an 18-month period and afterwards I was in the doghouse for years. I could not get a Citi card if my life depended on it, despite earning way above the minimum and having no troubles getting other cards.

So I took a hiatus and started getting success again after a two year break. I still churn but sparingly, usually flitting between the Qantas premium and the Coles card once a year.
