Replacing Old Xbox Gamertag Different Emails

I just wanted to know if anyone can help me with and issue I'm having..

I currently have two emails, an old email I never use with the Gamertag I want to keep. The other email is my everyday email address and a Gamertag I created years ago and never used.

I would like to somehow delete the old gamertag and merger the Gamertag i use to my everyday email address. Now there is a option to add Account alias to Microsoft/Xbox account however I can not proceed as they both have a Gamertag associated with them.

Has anyone had this issue or knows how to fix it?

Unfortunately, you are unable to just move a gamer tag only to a different email. The only thing you can do is change the email so the account is then tied to the new email, which will have the gamer tag tied to it. However, if the email you are wanting to use, already has a gamer tag associated to it. You will not be able to change the email. The link the assistant directed you to is great for changing the primary email.

  • I think I could have changed the gamertag I want to keep to something else then just used my everyday email account and changed that gamertag as the one I wanted to keep immediately after as it should technically be available…I would have lost my achievement/gamescore/purchased games but that wouldn't have been a big deal as I only have a few games played. the only thing is I purchased xbox gamepass last night and its now tied to my shit email so there goes that idea. oh well, thanks for your help

  • I have the exact same problem made one years ago but couldn't play certain games being under 18 so made a new one with a fake Date of birth.

You have to delete the email account associated with the gamertag in order to delete the gamertag.
