How to Use Wi-Fi on Cityrail Train?

i just notice that morning train from northern line to the city got free wifi, the problem that i have right now, it show connected, but i can not browsing on the net. there is no pop up window asking enter your name or email or agree to accept the condition etc. i can see the wifi signal on my iphone, but i can not access to the internet, is it because they don't have enough port to accommodate the user?

  • Open your browser after connecting to the hotspot. You should automatically be redirect to cityrail's front page. Scroll down and click OK to agree to their conditions. Now you should be able to use as regular wifi.

    • as i said above, when i open my browser, it doesn't ask me to enter anything, it is like no connection, but you can see the wifi icon signal is on, and i can see full signal as well. i just wondering if this issue because of the got limited port or something else

      • When you open your browser and try to go to say "google.com" you will be automatically re-directed to cityrail's homepage where you can agree to their term and conditions.

        • i have try that trick, as i said above, it doesn't open any new window asking me for entering my details etc.

      • Turn off your proxy?

        • there is no proxy on it.

      • Maybe see if someone else on the train is using it and ask to watch how they get on.

Usually the first time you try to access an "outside" web page, you get redirected to their T&C and/or login page where you have to accept to continue. Maybe your browser doesn't know how to redirect, which might happen if the redirect is done by Javascript and this is not supported or turned off in the browser. Though why a JS redirect might be used when a location redirect is adequate is unknown to me.

  • Perhaps try the opera mini browser - loads pages faster for iPhone and android

    • +1

How fast the pages load is pretty irrelevant when you don't have an internet connection. No matter what browser you use, the pages load…. never.

  • I've had the same problem with the Free WiFi at Carlingford Court shopping centre. Get directed to a special webpage… You even log in… but it simply never works at all.

  • have you tried it on a laptop? maybe it doesnt work on mobile devices. Download a browser that can fake your phone as a desktop. Then see if it works

  • thanks all, i might try maxtron and opera as well
