I never trust stands 100% That's why I have redundancy and leave the jack as well

    • what if the jack fails? or you need to go under where the jack is at and theres nowhere else to put the jack?

I put a tyre and wheel under the car too. You still might get horribly injured but at least your chest won't get crushed.

        • I keep some wood blocks for this purpose - a bunch of 150x50 about 40cm long. Great too for general jacking things up, ramps for getting up gutters, etc.

I am referring to using the Jack and stand together.

        • ok what if you need to get under where the jack is then and theres nowhere else to put the jack?

@Zachary: Every car must have a chassis point where it can be jacked. You search for the chassis rail where the jack can be mounted (refer to car operating manual for accuracy). There are different type of jacks, trolley, bottle, OEM jacks etc. How do you lift the car change the tyre on each quadrant? I have 2 x trolley jacks, 4 x stands & the OEM jack. I have purchased them over the years re specials from supercheap etc. I don't use them all in one hit but have as a backup just in case i get the a difficult jacking point (although have not experience thus far)

I always use 3-4 jack stands where 2 are required, When I was on my P's I jacked up my car on grass and started taking the o2 sensor off with full force, One glance over at jack both of them were almost dug in on ground on both sides and few more minutes I wouldn't be here typing this comment, Didn't have a garage at that time.

Jack stands on grass. Ahhhhh, to be young again.

    • Jeez that’s fkn scary

    • Never place the stand on soft ground. Car stands must stand on concrete floor or bitumen
