does anyone know if telstra have any deals out there for adsl2? or are they going to revise there current adsl2 plans anytime soon?

Telstra has got more competitive recently. But as the other poster has pointed out you may be able to get some good deals with other companies. It all depends on the amount of data you want.
For example internode is terrible for low data amounts compared to telstra but at the upper end they pull ahead.
Perhaps look at iinet, adam etc…Personally I negotiated with Telstra and got home phone and cable internet (200 GB) for $58 (taking into account that I had a mobile service plus some arm twisting to get another $20 off).
