Any Solution to Avoid Getting Blind from Oncoming Vehicles with High Beam Headlight on?

Some drivers are just too arrogant and selfish to turn down their high beams at night. Most of the time signalling them doesn't work. I am curious to know what other people's experiences on this and if there are any solutions to avoid this now that the country is about to open up and more people will be on the roads at night.

  • i squint and look at the left edge of the road
with all the high tech gizmos on cars these days surely it wouldn't be too hard to attach a light sensor that dips the lights when it detects oncoming headlights?

Are you sure they're high beams? A lot of newer and modified cars just have bright white normal headlights.

I drive a newish Mitsubishi outlander and I get the occasional person flashing me even though I don't have my high beams on.

Tip tho if oncoming headlights are blinding you. If it's safe to do so, look to the left line on the road and follow that until you pass them. Or… Just don't drive at night time.

  • I noticed this and then blip the high-beams, then they turn theirs high-beams on too. Confusion ensues.

Force a head on collision to take out their lights.

  • I completely close one of my eyes if that happens and look off to the side of the road. At least i still have one eye that can see properly.

Get a lifter kits for your car. My car is so lifted, people in front of me don't need to use headlights as my headlines shines the way for them.

  • Look at the line in the middle of the road. That helps you not to get blinded and still see where you are going.

Many new cars come standard with VERY bright lights. I have a newish Ranger and I get flashed all the time for the bright lights. I would suggest fitting addtional lights or a light bar to your car. Just blind them back, that will usually force someone to dip to low beam.

  • Jump onto their lane. This will usually scare the shit out of them.

  • Country road driving is a nightmare when driving at night. The road are so bad with hardly any street lights and once a while you get a cockhead that forget to dill the high beam and you have to really squash your eyes and keep left as much you can. Don't talk about those truckies who drives on that road sometime their lights is much worst than high beam on some of the sedans.
