Can't Activate amaysim Service Due to Outtage

So bought a 150 GB 6 months plan for my mother today $150, it wont even allow me to activate it, help desk this morning asked if I could try later?
14 hours later and I still cannot activate.
So how is this possible? To add to this, Lyca where I am porting from wont even let me log into my account to see details, saying account does not exist, so I go to get help from them and the Press 3 to speak to an operator keeps taking me back to the same menu.

So I want to get a refund because this is unacceptable, I had to open it to get the number as the CS agent asked me to. Am I able to get a refund due to not even being able to activate it?
Given Lyca are charging me another $10 for this month, I don't get why Amaysim who Optus has now taken over cannot even facilitate such a simple process for new customers?

I bought the item from officeworks today.

Any help would be appreciated.

As soon as I get to the final page where I enter my details re D.O.B I get this error

  • Issues happen. Try again tomorrow.

Officeworks would have to agree to a refund, nothing to do with Amaysim.

  • Yeah Amaysim were having troubles with the app last week so I had to use the website to port across. The website had a validation error for the DOB but it went through the second time around after I validated my old provider via SMS. They've probably broken it good while trying to fix the original problem.

I always had problems with porting to and from Optus MVNOs back in the day (including Amaysim) so I normally avoid them if I can. It's frustrating when they can't manually intervene though. You'd think they'd be ready for this day. The Groupon deal was just too good.

  • +1

I haven't used the app, just online activation as suggested by CS chat, but them saying, "hey try later" makes me think I should go with a provider with proper support.

  • This is the risk with the approach of frequent porting.

    • The service has been ported once in the lifetime of the number, so around 5 years.
You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

      • Frequently porting increases the chance you hit a glitch with one of the carriers.

That you had an error on the only port in 5years is dreadfully unlucky.

        • It's a pita, the issue is that my mother requires the OS telephony addition.
I will try again today but CS agent with, we are currently experiencing an outtage please try later is unacceptable for $150 purchase.

  • truly living up to his name.

    • So spending $150 to not be able to use a service?
Your input was extremely helpful, thanks.

        yes it is

        • Right so you just tried to activate a sim card did you?
Since I could not upload an image, it was on the page where all data was input regarding D.O.B, number to be ported etc, once again duly noted for your input, which at this time is in the negative.

          Let's recap.

As soon as I get to the final page where I enter my details re D.O.B I get this error

        • Fwiw just tried again and same error.

  • So the issue was that the Sim could not be activated online, had to get in touch with Lyca whose web interface does not allow anyone to log into their accounts, check my details of porting number and then buy the $150 plan online with Amaysim, who then are issuing a refund and linking my current paid sim from OW.

2 things that were out of my control.
