      I would be surprised if global had better steel than 5Cr15MoV; I would expect global to use a lesser value steel. I'm surprised that this advertised knife set is using 5Cr15MoV (very close copy to X50CrMoV15). Ads for cheap knives often don't mention the steel used for good reason (good reason to the seller).

      Price does not always determine the quality.

      In reading the reviews I have determined it is similar quality to the cheap kmart knives

  I'd also point out that the OP clearly has ZERO idea about even the basics of knives, as these are gyoto-shaped, not santoku, not even close. And the smaller ones wouldn't be santoku-shaped anyway.
