Free English Language Courses (Adult Migrant English Program) for Eligible Migrants @ Service Providers

160

About the program

The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) is a free service to help eligible migrants and humanitarian entrants with low English levels to improve their English language skills and settle into Australia.

Learning English will help you to participate more fully in Australian life. You will learn new skills to help you work and make friends in Australia.

When you are in an AMEP class, free childcare is available for children under school age.

Your service provider will assist you to find out about free childcare.

For migrants receiving Centrelink payments, learning English in the AMEP may meet some or all of your mutual obligation requirements.

More for the forums, this has always been around - not a bargain just a government service.

  • Is it available if you held a permanent visa say, 30 years ago? Is there a time limit, couldnt see one at quick glance..

      • No time limit listed on there either

    • until you reach vocational English

      • Not that kind of limit. I meant the limit on how long the migrant has been in the country. Ie. If they held a permanent visa decades ago, would they still be eligible?

If your spoken English is anything like your written English I can't see it being of much use to you
