  • Was looking at one a while back to pre order for a basic family mover though the reviews on the Nissan based CVT kind of took it off the potential list.
They may have fixed it but sure is plenty of CVT issues reported from the transmission they have used (from their Nissan/Mitsubishi/Renault alliance/ partnership)

Peak power is 135kW and peak torque is 245Nm

    CVT

    SUV

That'll be a big nope from me.

    • good lord there's not much research going on (not having a go at brendan)

the Outlander is a next gen t33 Xtrail so it will also share plafforms with the nextgen Koleos

so it'll have the new DI 2.5 four w/ cvt and whatever nissan use for their 4wd system

      That's it.

If you're happy with the performance and space and the warranty then buy it.

If you"re not go to Nissan.

if you still not happy go to Renault. Play the three chiumps for basically the same car.

if you're still not go hang yourself from the closest light pole because that's the experience driving the Xtrail platform.

      • My comment was purely that it's a gutless pig with a (to me) disgusting transmission.

    Front looks ugly…

    No from me.

I'd prefer it over a Haval.

  • I think pegaxs drives a similar car. PHEV?

  • I think it’s awesome. You should order one now.

  • prefer hyundai tucson highlander diesel, so sleek and more power

    • different target market though
      Tuscon is a 5 seater
Outlander is a 7 (back 2 would be uncomfortable for anyone with legs, but still 'seats')

      • sta fe is better option

        • true, though about a +10k price difference also for sante fe/sorento, but they are both definitely a step above an outlander

          • @SBOB: i prefer to add 10k for long time use and enjoy the benefits o a good car, compare to the outlander

  • IT wont matter if the delays are like the Triton. the bloke i bought this house off who ordered a new Triton - he ordered start of this year - spoke to him few days ago and he has now been told Feb delivery - maybe
    - so he cancelled and bought a Mazda instead

Sounds like a knock off of Mitsubishi. Even the genuine brand had the nickname of bits are missing.

  • If it actually had the 220v plug like the overseas version it would be more useful

Had a look, bought a RAV hybrid instead.

  • Would have been nice if they had a hybrid variant equivalent to the RAV4.

    • Or a plug in hybrid :eye roll:

      • Yeah only a plug-in hybrid but not the conventional hybrid.

        • Surely plug in is a better option, why don’t Toyota do a plug in version? Can run on solar or off peak power for 40km or so per charge at significantly better energy efficiency than using a petrol engine to create that power.

          • @Euphemistic: I personally just think plug-in hybrid is a stupid powertrain.

Basically an expensive electric car with crap range combined with the full engine layout under the bonnet and a fuel tank as well. The conventional hybrid is just a very efficient ICE powertrain. If they had released the Outlander with a normal hybrid powertrain then some people could just switch to it instead of waiting endlessly for a RAV4.

Would rather ICE or full electric IMO.

            • @ajsr8: To each their own I guess. I don’t see the point of a ‘regular’ hybrid that you can’t take advantage of electric power at significantly less cost than petrol just by putting a plug in point and a bit bigger battery.
