Thermal Label Printers Compatible with 3rd Party Express Post Labels

Hi,

I am looking to get a thermal label printer that can print 10cmx15cm (4"x6") shipping labels from ebay/auspost websites etc. I will mainly be sending express post so being able to print labels on 3rd party express post labels is a must. This is the express label roll that I am wanting to buy https://www.awesomepack.com.au/products/express-post-direct-…

It says on the website:
Printers that are Compatible with this Label:
ALL Zebra Direct Thermal Printers, Bixolon, Citizen, CognitiveTPG, Datamax, Epson TM, Intermec, Sato, Toshiba TEC Direct thermal label printers.

I am wondering if any other thermal label printers are not captured in this list that are compatible.

Been researching for a few days and I am keen on the following models:

  • Brother QL-1110NWB - doesn't appear that it is compatible with the express post label above
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Brother-QL-1110NWB-Bluetooth-Print…

  • Dymo 4XL - appears you can use 3rd party shipping labels but not sure if it the express post rolls are compatible. I rang inkstation who also sell the express post labels and they said Dymo and brother are not compatible.

  • Dymo 5XL - from reading reviews you can only use dymo branded labels so this option is out

  • Ausprint thermal printer https://ausprint.co/
Not much information or reviews for them but they sell their own express post rolls so could be an option. Does anyone have this one and what is your experience?

I am also considering zebra but it is double the price of the other ones and I'm not sure I want to invest that much at this stage for it to be worthwhile.

Comments

  • If the machine can take the size then its compatible. Most likely yes.

    • Unfortunately some brands force you to use their own branded labels as the label roll has a RFID chip, this being the case for dymo 5xl. When I looked at the brother model on the inkstation website and the available rolls to purchase it does not have the express post labels as being compatible and they said on the phone the labels weren't compatible with brother…

Keen to see if anyone has tried the express post labels with the brother model and if it worked.

  • Hi, I am in the exact same position as you looking for a thermal compatible with the same labels.

    Did you find a solution?
