  • Not available to my location :-(

I think I used my AfterPay coupon a long time back

    • Create a new ebay account? I used an old one I hadn't used for a long time. You can still check out with your Afterpay account.

Brisbane "Unfortunately, this seller won't post to your location."

    • +1

Strange as CUB has delivered here before :-(

  • Any other codes for those that don't have AfterPay?

    • Unfortunately not from this seller.
Boozebud has but they’re inflated mostly

  • +6

Beware the 500ml cans are now being produced in Australia. Listing says imported from Japan so this is clearance of old stock

    • +1

I love the Japanese imported cans crispness, I really hope we will be able to buy them in some form if they start to produce some locally

      • +3

Yep same, caught me off guard and I'm glad I checked before buying made in Australia cans!

        • Where were the made in AU cans being sold? Dans is completely out of stock of cans now.

When I bought a coupe of cases a month ago I noticed the packaging for the cans had changed slightly and thought oh no, but checked and they were still made in Japan. The AU brewed Asahi is awful

          • @mctubster: It was at BWS

            • @Drpepper666: Did it explicitly state made in AU and were the cans 500ml?

I ask because the packaging for cans recently changed and when I first saw it I thought oh no … on the outside it says made under the supervision of Asahi blah blah, but the cans themselves still say made in Japan

              Cheers

              • @mctubster: I saw on the box that the beer is produced in Australia. I didn't crack open the carton to check the cans. That's weird if true?

      • If they're cheaper, they likely will be. Same as grey imports for Stella, Heineken etc - either CUB will keep the price really sharp to prevent it, or the grey imports will continue. The problem won't be the Australian ones (although inferior), it's the precedent for them eventually being brewed in China/Thailand/SEA under licence.

        • CUB is owned by ASAHI!

So likely they are rationalising their production - meaning imports will probably stop as production here increases.

Bottles of Asahi Super Dry have been produced here for some time. Were previously brewed in China under licence & imported here.

          • @INFIDEL: I'm aware of the ownership, the grey imports are third parties importing from other countries or direct from the country of production. That's why you can get Belgian Stella despite CUB or someone else (I don't keep track anymore) having the rights to brew here.

            • @pdtmathieson: CUB were importing & selling the cans cheap on eBay, Catch, etc.
When CUB was sold to Asahi, it was tipped that was the end of cheap deals on these cans. Price increased.

    • +6

Well I guess its time to find a new beer then if the 500ml cans are no longer done in Japan.

      • +3

I recommend Monsuta by Orion. Brewed in Japan and pretty widely available at BWS etc.

        • Looks good but unfortunately unavailable at bws and Dan Murphys for me. Will keep an eye out!

        • Seems there's very little stock available nationwide actually.

          • @MiscOzB: That is troubling, perhaps they are discontinuing it :(

Did some research and it's a Woolies contracted international beer so it's gone.

    • +1

WHAT!? NO!…….. Was the only reason I drank these……

    • Do you have a link to the news?

      • No link, just check the cans before you buy them. My local BWS had new cartons of 500ml cans and I got excited, then checked the box and found brewed in Australia.

        • k, thanks for the awareness

    • Has anyone tasted the Australian brewed cans?

      • If it come off the same line as the local bottles - I wouldn't bother!

    • I love how most Australians will never know how good made-in-Japan beer tastes. They'll drink this crap and declare XXXX better. More for the rest of us!

  • Apologies, there is excluded delivery zones (thanks Mods for putting that in the deal):

Used to buy for around $40 2 years ago.

Have been drinking more black beer.
Already had 3 cases of great Montleith's Black @$33ea.

Actually I'll just tell you now - won't be that cheap but better than this eBay deal anyway.

OzSale are on the list of stores for the Klarna deal, and CUB are selling them for $70 there with free shipping, so it'd bring them down to $52.50 (small percentage cashback available too at SB/CR).

Just checked and looks like they ship to Brisbane (tried a random address).

          • @MiscOzB: Thanks👍

Realised my 18 cans need to be drunk soon - nearing expiry date. Any excuse for a new carton of Asahi 🇯🇵

    RIP Asahi in Australia.

  • So are they no longer made in Japan?
How come the first sentence of the item description is still Imported direct from Japan?

Would that be misleading by CUB?

    • It still says source is Japan on the listing. If they are local I'll be disputing it. Took a screenshot in case.

    • CUB are still selling stock of the Japan imports, of course.

  • bit rough but don't mind these sometimes, have to be real cold and in a glass ;)
using afterpay to pay for piss isn't the best given a credit check, haha
