Nice, I've been looking for a language-based game, hopefully there are some good brain-teasers. Along with the school theme, this seems like it would be educational and fun for the whole family.

Bought one for myself and grabbed one for my nephew Timmy as well

      Oh poor lil timmy

    • +2

Timmy will probably have picked up some surgical skills by the time he finishes this too.

I brought this just for Monika.

Switch version is cheaper @~$48 as well, paid $44 2 weeks ago
Negative Nintendo tax, that’s a first.

    • Thanks, bought the switch version

    • +1

      Switch version is also uncensored.

    • Switch version arrived today with missing physical goodies (only game cart inside, unsealed case is a bit scratched up with a weird barcode sticker on the back, probably a dodgy return got mixed in). YMMV.

$40.86 with free delivery here: https://www.play-asia.com/doki-doki-literature-club-plus-pre…

Heed the note that this isn't a kids game irrespective of the juvenile artwork.

    • Add GST but yes, still cheaper.

    • +2

Dont you need to spend $49 USD to get free shipping?

  • +2

Yeah this one did my head in proper. I'm not sure what they've added in the plus version, but the original had me utterly floored. What a ride

Go in blind if you can.

  • Missed Halloween by that much.

  • +1

Without spoilers, is there a major difference between the free Steam version?

    • +1

No difference in the actual game but I believe the premium physical edition comes with a few extras.

      From the play-asia website:
      Base Game
      Sticker Sheet
      2” Character Standees – Set of 4
      A Poem From Monika
      Literature Club Membership Card
      Soundtrack Download Card

Agent got it a little wrong. You're asking for the difference between "Doki Doki Literature Club" and "Doki Doki Literature Club Plus!"
The plus version does have some differences, like:

6 new Side Stories about friendship and literature, totaling hours of new content
100+ unlockable images including new game art, wallpapers, never-before-seen concept sketches, and more
26 total music tracks, including 13 all-new unlockable songs by Nikki Kaelar, plus special guests Jason Hayes and Azuria Sky
A built-in DDLC music player to unwind with your favorite songs in a custom playlist, or loop a single track forever
A high-fidelity visual upgrade with all artwork now in Full HD (1080p)

But that's all really. I plan on buying it anyways just to support the developers, they deserve my money.

      • +1

Oops.. I somehow missed the free part in the question.

I plan to buy as well just to support the dev.

  • +1

    For the uninitiated:
Every version of DDLC Plus has the same game contents… Except for the PlayStation (PS4 and PS5) versions, which was censored to meet PlayStation’s ludicrously inconsistent content regulations, which seems to mainly have it out for games with anime aesthetics.

    • I don't remember anything in the original game that needed censoring. What is it that's censored in the ps version?

      • It’s an aesthetic change. Nothing has been removed. Can’t be specific, it’s a spoiler.

        • Censorship is defined as suppression or alterations of words, images, or ideas. Not removal.

If tomorrow Nintendo forced all games that portrayed blood to recolour them as green (along the lines of Nintendo of the 90s), would anyone let them off with just a: "it's just an aesthetic change, nothing was removed"?
