Telstra Prepaid ESIM Now Working

You need to register for a Telstra account and be logged into your MyTelstra app.

In the app, ensure you're logged in with your Telstra ID and connected to Wi-Fi.

Then go to the 'Services' tab and select your mobile number. Scroll down and select 'Transfer or restore eSIM' and follow the steps on screen.

I am Absolutely elated with this. I decided to share it because I have been religiously trying to get an eSIM ever since I got my new phone and Telstra kept saying they've migrated to a new system and Esim on prepaid is unavailable. Tonight it worked!

    • Have you visited a Telstra store? They may get it done for you.

      • Upfront (not post-paid) plans don’t have eSIM.

    Wonder if or when Boost will start providing E-Sim service.

    • Woolies Mobile will probably beat them as e-sim is coming in 2 weeks, according to a rep on Whirlpool.

  • It's been there for at least a month but the app was so buggy to let me transfer to e-sim. Had to visit a store and staff got it done in few minutes.

      No, once the eSIM is activated, the physical sim will be no signals, SOS only. You don’t need a sim on watch (my iWatch doesn’t need a sim card, just pay $5 monthly to Telstra to activate it)

  • I think that facility may not be available on prepaid. Still worth a phone enquiry as that appears do-able

  • Easiest way to get e-sim transfer: visit a Telstra store. All plans have e-sim now. Mine are prepaid and Upfront plan.
