Kogan 42" Full HD LED TV with PVR - $339 Delivered (Preorder with PayPal)

This looked like an amazing price for a 42" Full HD LED TV - especially paired with the free shipping offer with Paypal! It apparently has an LG panel too.

Note - the free shipping is redemption style. You pay for it, and then it is credited to your Paypal account later. Free shipping offer ends Thursday.

  • Any thoughts? Pretty sure I am going to order one

  • I'm finding it hard to pass up… how bad could it be? :S

I'm pretty happy with my little 19" LED Kogan.

    "Computer Supported Resolutions 640x480 @ 60Hz, 800x600 @ 60Hz, 1024x768 @ 60Hz, 1280X1024 @60Hz, 1366X768 @ 60Hz" is a concern - but maybe a mistake? (surely it supports the native 1920x1080)

I've emailed them asking to clarify this - I'll post back their response.

50/60Hz concerns me would have considered if it was 100hz.

  • Dang, been looking at the 32" led, looking for a simple sleek tv for the bedroom, 42" just a little to large

    • +3

It can never be too large!

  • This might seem a stupid question but I have seen some stupidly designed equipment over the years:

When you stick headphones in the headphone out jack of this tv, does it mute the volume from the tv's speakers?

    • I have a Kogan TV and it mutes the external speakers and switches over to headphone volume. I'd recommend getting on their guest chat to confirm though but it should be the same.

    :(

  • 8th May, its too long…

  • +1

Kogan chat is the dead zone.

  • This is a Perfect for a cheap tv and you don't care about quality of image and refresh rate.
    Perfect for bedroom.

  • Contemplating buying it but can't convince myself to do so. Anyone want to try and convince me? Would the TV last me a couple of years?

  • Expected dispatch date: 8th May 2012

Thank you, we've read that in the item description and the multiple posts saying the exact same thing as yours already.

  • Would buy it if it was 100hz panel and would ship faster. Otherwise it's a very average deal.

    • You want a 42", full hd, 100hz tv with pvr for less than $339 delivered- you're dreaming.

This is the cheapest price for a 42" full hd tv ever recorded on this site. Correct me if I'm wrong

      • For a Kogan it is all I would be willing to spend considering the other TV bargains out their lately.

  • Cant find the free shipping offer using Paypal anywhere on Kogan's site. Can anyone direct me to the link? I dont want to buy and find out later, it is not going to come back into my account.

    Great deal OP :)

That's from an email Kogan sent me. You should have also got one from Paypal saying the same thing.

  • Maybe you aren't one of Paypal's "most valued customers".

  • Kogan lost a sale on this, because their chat was unattended all day, they did not reply to an email, and I'm too cheap to waste 25c on a 1300 call- I hate 1300 numbers- when I have no confidence that I'd get an answer to my questions that way either.

  • Did anyone figure out why it is listed as not supporting 1920x1080 computer resolution?

    • I tried to find out…. support passed me on to sales. I'm not confident that sales know:

      I ordered one anyway..

      • Thanks. I have a suspicion that maybe it doesn't support 1920x1080 over VGA. I don't understand how it would tell the difference between say a blueray player outputting over HDMI at 1080p, or my computer outputting over HDMI at 1080p.

        • I agree - if anything, it won't be able to do 1080p over VGA. That makes little sense though - I'd wager the work experience kid copy&pasted specs from a 720p model.

        • They have updated the spec:

          Computer Supported Resolutions 640x480 @ 60Hz, 800x600 @ 60Hz, 1024x768 @ 60Hz, 1280X1024 @60Hz, 1366X768 @ 60Hz, 1920X1080 @ 60Hz

          :)

  • Has anyone else received theirs?

I got mine today, and it seems to have the wrong firmware written to it… maybe firmware intended for a Konka model… it does very little except flash a Konka logo briefly when it is supposed to be in standby!
