Thanks, grabbed some more of their decaf

How do you rate it? Been meaning to get some but debating whether it's worth going with some more expensive Seven Seeds stuff.

      • Just a FYI I ordered the undercover roasters decaf and rate it. Previously I tried the Inglewood and think UCR is better.

      • Have a bag on rotation at the moment for another family member who drinks decaf and I gotta say it produces a ridiculous amount of crema when pulling the shot.

It’s also quite a dark roast so I usually drop the boiler temp a tad, and grind pretty fine to slow it down.

      • Absolutely worth spending more on decaf. Bad dark roasted Swiss water decaf is like sipping diluted cardboard ash.

My advice is look for coffee decaffeinated using ethyl acetate (fermented sugar cane byproduct) as it's sweeter and less bitter.

I tried this recently and honestly it tasted better than some of their other specialty coffees:

Edit: Just realised 7 seeds offering same lot! Same importer no doubt. At Monastery I bought the filter roast/whole bean and was impressed. I dont drink dark roasts if I can avoid it.

Agreed - there's a lot of very dark roasted decaf out there…

Some peeps commonly look for swiss water decaf and avoid the ethyl acetate method for fear it's less healthy if residue left behind, though descriptions for ethyl acetate always note that it occurs naturally in some fruits and is not harmful to ingest. Agree that method tends to leave a better quality bean behind.

I used to get their coffee within half a week of ordering, but now it's 1 week (metro Sydney) with express post. Not a deal breaker for me, I know auspost is swamped, just a heads up. Some others on here have been more unlucky with postage delays, so bear this in mind when ordering

    • Very similar story here. Ages back I think I got the order next day somehow (in Adelaide), now it can take perhaps almost a week (I just checked and last was five days and that included a weekend so not bad).

Again not problematic at all but worth knowing that the AusPost delays are like so I can better time bean deliveries :)

I'm one of those unlucky ones :(
My last order to Melb took 14 days, and I have been waiting for my current order for 7 - with nothing more than a "it's delayed" note from Auspost.

      • +1

Same. Ordered on the 24th October and still waiting for mine in Melbourne. Auspost says could take another 2-3 weeks despite it arriving in Melbourne over a week ago.

        • +1

Ouch. So for Melbourne folks, it seems to take ages given Airjo is based on the Gold Coast, pretty bad for Express Post. Imho for metro Sydney you'll get it within a week of ordering.

    • My last order in metro Sydney arrived the next day, no idea how

  • Thanks, ordered a 1kg Saratoga when I got their promo email this morning and had an aus post notification for tracking 25 min later. They've always managed next business day delivery for me, to gold coast.

    • They are based in gold coast that's why

    • +2

Same no issues for people based in Brisvegas!

  • can you do delayed shipping?

    • +1

They don’t do delayed shipping however they often have specials and once you get a bag there is a code on the bag for 30% off your next purchase so you’ll be set.

      • Hey thanks for the tip. I did not realise this. Just found my old packet has 25% off my next order. Will save that if I dont see a better offer when needing my next supply.

  • Has anyone tried both the stargazer and thunderchild blends?

    • Thunderchild is good, I prefer mycuppa Sartoga or Centreway. I find Airjo shots inconsistent. Sometimes it will pour more or less. Same grind setting with different results. I don't know what is up with that, can't go wrong with 30% off though.

      • Have you checked for channeling?

  • would be all over it if delayed shipping…

  • If only you could select a date for delivery. I ordered decaf the other week knowing that I had at least 7 days left of what I had and the delivery was deadset within 48hrs of me ordering.

Great delivery and coffee btw, thanks Airjo

I'm in the same boat, in only you could layby on this :(

  • Perfect timing, just running out of my beans from the last deal!

  • Is it just me who's (evidently) dyslexic and has been reading this brand as Ajiro? 🤯 FML

    • Made me laff

  • I ordered beans from their last deal over one week ago and they still haven't arrived. How long before beans start to go stale?

    • +2

i reckon most of the time that the sweet spot is around 2 weeks after the roasting, and then they go downhill from there - i definitely try to get through them before they get much past 4 weeks. this assumes they are not exposed to heat, moisture or air, any of which will make them go off faster. even with the delays i have been seeing with shipping lately (sometimes more than a week), i usually don't start using the beans when i get them, waiting until they get closer to 2 weeks since roasting. also, to extend the life further, i have recently started freezing beans (in vacuum sealed bags) and it seems to be working ok

      • Cheers for the detailed reply, appreciate it.

  • Would anyone be able to recommend a Blend for Latte's from Airjo. Was thinking Stargazer or Colombia but if anyone's tried would be good to know.

  • I'd love to see a table comparison of all their blends, with more details on the blends, like the bean origins. The descriptions all kind of sound the same and I can't decide which ones to get!

    • Especially with names like 'delicious' 😅

    • +1

I'd be surprised if these beans are traceable beyond country of origin. You're not buying specialty coffee here folks; but fair enough too as you're not paying specialty prices. These are a step up from supermarket if only because they're roasted fresh, but you're going to be hard pressed to get notes other than generic coffee - woody and earthy, or caramel and chocolate if you're lucky.

  • I got some on the last round, it's ok but I much prefer Zimmah (not affiliated at all).

  • Still waiting on my order. Probably won't order coffee again online until the post gets back to normal. Express post doesn't mean a thing currently

  • Always extremely fast shipping to Melbourne.

    • I beg to differ. Ordered on the 24th October and still waiting.

      • If your goods have been dispatched (and collected from Airjo), then it's the random nature of aussie post at the moment that you're at the mercy of. Some things sail through, and others sit dormant in a distribution centre for weeks…

  • Yea I bought some on Friday (with 20% discount :( ) and it just got delivered. First time Enterprise taster… haha but love the others so..
