"Slightly lower price at Jomashop but GST there"

I've bought/imported from Ashford before. You've got to expect to be hit with GST once it arrives at Customs in Australia. Pretty sure I also had to pay the DHL(?) "processing" fee in addition too. So Jomashop could be your best bet (link in OP's info).

I haven’t been hit with GST before. Lucky perhaps.

I try to steer clear of grey market warranties personally. Unless the discount is big enough to have repairs done locally

      • Definitely a fair amount of luck involved. If you're happy to "gamble" you can come out a winner. "Losing" sometimes feels like it hurts more as GST is calculated on Customs own definition of price/valuation and exchange rate and not the actual AUD that you paid through your own (no exchange fees) bank account.

        • There is usually GST + $88 Customs processing fee + DHL processing fee. It adds up.

    • I also haven't been hit with GST for orders from Ashford. All mine have had customs value less than $1000.

If preferring some certainty - order from Jomashop and use coupon WCMME20LR97 for USD 20 douscount. Total with tax and shipping will be USD 643.90

    • If the value is under $1000, it's the sellers responsibility to collect GST. Customs can't collect on their behalf. Customs should only get involved if the value is more.
I assume you bought an item over $1k in value. If not, then you may be remembering incorrectly.

DO NOT BUY for telling time. My friend has this and it's time keeping accuracy is VERY bad. Within a day it gains or loses 1 min due to it's Automatic movement. Worse than a $2 electronic Chinese watch for telling time. And as a fashion accessory for men, also DO NOT BUY, it looks bad.

Tell me you know nothing about watches, without telling me you know nothing about watches

Within a day it gains or loses 1 min

That's pretty normal for a mechanical watch.

Yes, but it's always a pain when you're down at 200 meters and you just miss your submarine by that [] much. You can't call that a chronometer!

        What's that Skippy? No-one did?

      • No, it's not actually.

        • 1 min per day is "Seiko book accuracy" but its not acceptable IMO.

          A good auto should be -/+ 5 secs a day… so you're losing about a minute every 12 days.

It's not often I log in just to make a comment dreamboat, but in the immortal words of twitch, you're not even wrong!

The movement is generally considered good quality and well regarded. Some info here - https://calibercorner.com/sellita-caliber-sw200/

1 minute a day is well outside the norm for this movement & your friends watch may need adjustment or regulation. Mine runs within accuracy of 5 seconds a day. - but yes a cheap Chinese quartz can be more accurate and is probably a much more suitable watch for you.

    • You realise even the absolute best mechanical watches aren't as accurate as cheap Chinese quartz watches right? The point isn't about absolute accuracy it's about the skill and mechanical beauty/art involved in keeping time through mechanical/analogue means. 1min while not great for a new mechanical watch isn't bad most people will be using a reference clock to fine tune the time every few days at least if they use it for telling time and wear it regularly.
Nobody buys a Swiss Watch because it's the best way to tell time!

    • there's always that one person in every watch post..

  • Use code THANKS10 and get a further 10% off. Or FALLSAVINGS. for 11%

    • Those codes not valid for flash deals

      • My error! 😵‍💫

  • Ooh! This is a really nice looking watch, I've always wanted to buy a Speedmaster and probably will at some stage but really have never known much about watches until recently. So this is a Swiss Automatic right? Time to do some research, if this is a good price historically and the brand has a decent history/reputation I think I'm gonna have to buy one. I like the idea of beating this watch up a bit (using as a daily driver) and seeing how it petinas over time. I love this kinda style.

  • Normally not a fan of "gold" colour watches, but that is a nice looking watch.

I bought this watch a couple of weeks ago from Ashford (was $623USD) and it's a beauty! My only minor gripe is the inner rotating bezel moves ever so slightly every time you try and screw the crown down.

    • What about GST, custom and DHL fees?

      • Under $1000 so there weren't any.

    • My bezel is perfect - no similar problem although I did have a problem with similar bezel on another brand

  • Thanks
