Accounting Software for Small Business

Hey!

Is anyone able to recommend any accounting software that can do both business and personal? I like the look of Quickbooks Self Employed but it does not seem to have anything to track things like interest, CGT, dividends, Crypto Mining Income etc.

I would ideally like an all in one solution with an easy to use interface like Quickbooks

Thanks in advance

Missus runs her small business off a free program - pretty sure she uses this one: https://www.manager.io/

Not sure if it'll handle single touch payroll if you have to go that way, otherwise she's been happy.

    • btw, she's been running it about 2 years

      • Thank you for sharing - I took a look but not sure if it has the personal accounting features I am looking for either :/

    • I just downloaded this after spending weeks looking for an accounting and inventory program!
      Thank you so much!

      You legend!

100% NOT myob essentials. Such a frustrating interface. Only thing stopping me going to zero is it’s a pain to move

    have you checked out xero?

    • I have - it is very expensive and still not sure if it has the personal accounting features I am looking for as well?

      • What kind of features are you looking for specifically?

        • Just something simple to input CGT, other income sources that aren't directly business related

I think you are really looking for an accountant service / tax planning tool rather than an accounting software package.

  • I do everything with Google Sheets for free. So long as you can download transactions as CSV files not much to it.

Most quickbooks online software let you add your own income categories, so you could add one for Crypto mining, dividends etc. Do they have a free trial so you can look around before buying?

    • I did not realise this - I got the self employed version trial and didn't see a feature. Maybe I need to check out the full version!

      Thanks

From what I've heard, Xero is the best accounting for small business. I haven't used it.

I use Zoho invoice - Zoho has a bunch of tools for various things. I chose Zoho because it was cheap(er). If starting again I would probably bite the bullet and go Xero.

I also use spreadsheets to take care of capital gains, dividends etc.

QuickBooks or Reckon should do the job.

Xero is way too expensive, MyOB interface is crap. All IMO.

  • $29/month for Xero is expensive.
manager.io is free for desktop version, but is $79/month when you need cloud later
