Scoopon Credits for refunds - Be careful

Hi all,

I have always preferred credist for GB refunds. It is easier for me that having to track credit card refunds. I have just run into a problem though, so you may wish to consider whether to accept a credit rather than a refund if you get a reversal from Scoopon.

I went to buy a couple of vouchers and have found that you can basically use one voucher per transaction. So, you could have $500 in "gift certificates" but if they are all $10 each, you will only be able to use one $10 credit in a transaction for say $200 or $500, or any amount.

I made a mistake and did not split up my two vouchers. I could have zeroed out one voucher and used part of another. Instead I just used part of a bigger one. Grrrr.

  • nothing beats cash

  • Did u say just one refund credit can be used per transaction?

That way isn't it better to combine refunds, so u can use part of it anytime? Rather than having 10 X $10 vouchers and so u need to buy 10 things and pay much more extra cash?

Anyway I always prefer cash so I am not restricted to one group buy company.

    • Of course it's better to combine them. They are issued at different times. I imagine that I will more likely to ask for a credit card reversal from now on.

  • DON'T accept a credit - you have given them your cash (from your credit card) in return for a product service they were unable to deliver, so they should return it. I think you will find it well within your consumer rights to demand a refund, not a credit.

In your case voteoften, I'd be pursuing the missing balance of your credit and if scoopon are not forthcoming, take it up with the ombudsman.

    • Thanks for your concern. There is no missing balance. What I didn't use is still there. A partial credit remains. I don't really have a problem with the money sitting in there. For me, my ability to indulge my laziness (in not having to track the credits on my cc statement) was worth it. It is just that I can not use more than one credit in a transaction that is the irritating part. These'll be used, but I think I may have to ask for refunds in the future. Shame, as I really am lazy.

  • Why would you want a credit? Cash is king!

  • Always take cash! I mean, what if Scoopon went broke or something and further limited the use of credits!

    • It wouldn't be the end of the world. All up, we are talking less than $150.
