Tyre Recommendation for Kia Sportage AWD 235/55R18

My rear tyre went flat after a damage due to pothole etc. I am now using my spare wheel , which has same tyre type as the original tyre.
Looking to replace the spare wheel tyre type 235/55R18.
First owner, Kia sportage 2015, AWD, done 12k.
All suggestions and advice appreciated. Thanks.

First owner and I assume due to low KM you haven't changed a tyre on it before? Bad news is tyres have a useful life. At 6 years old you'd want to check over them carefully. Rubber hardens over time providing less grip, begin to crack etc (which may be why a pothole was able to take out a tyres) so regardless of tread, you might be looking at a full set. The slightly good news is a lot of manufacturers do buy 4 for the price of 3 around this time of the year.

    • Thanks, good advice. i will get my tyres checked and
Replace all 4 if recommended by the mechanic.

  • AWD

Replace all four? Or at least 2.

    • Pretty sure it’s not full time AWD so is less critical to change all four at once. Unlike Subaru.

        That's why the question mark.

So is it better to put the spare away and two new tyres on the front?

        • Thanks , Good suggestion.

    SUVs belong in the trash

    • It's a Sportage. Basically a Cerato on stilts. Hardly a real SUV.

Why not just buy a Cerato then?

        • No AWD Cerato's

      • 🤣

    • What a trash comment !

Only 12,000km? Since 2015? That’s not enough driving to keep a car. Or is it 12,000km on these tyres?

If you meant 120,000km old are the tyres?

2k a year seems very low

  • budget?
Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus or Michelin Pilots will be just fine. Wait for buy 4 for price of 3 for Bridgestone though.

  • I've been very happy with a set of Michelin Primacy 4 - very quiet, comfortable, and pretty well priced.
