Woolworth Fresh and Free Guarantee

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Don't know if this is technically a bargain so down vote if you don't agree.

Woolworths have a new policy that will replace & refund fresh food purchases if they are found not to be fresh.

I took back a bag of carrots, after using half of them, as some of them had gone off and it was still 2 days before their Best Before date.

So I received a replacement product and the original cost of the goods, bargain!

    No, a policy is not a bargain…

  • I just hope people won't abuse this policy! Otherwise they'll probably axe it.

Well i think they can certainly afford to do this…
Local fruit shop had bananas for 0.99 cents kg
    Woolies Price $1.98 kg

quality was dependant on the bunches (from both shops)

and notice Aldi often has them for 0.99 cents kg (too painful to shop for me)
plus they often run out of stuff i want :(

  • You could already do this, but I guess not many people were aware of it.

I don't see the point personally, the only time you get unusual things happening is if a customer has previously put your item in the wrong place while in the shop.

You might think you can start making some good money back if you return your fruit/veg that isn't fresh anymore, but you could already do this, its just that most people felt bad doing it.

  • Well, I also don't think it's a techeniquely bargin.

  • When people buy fruit and veg they generally rummage through everything to find the best one. So, i doubt many people will be 'unhappy' as you've picked it in the first place.

apples are a good case in point here tho…great on outside- flavour and texture inside crapola

  • dont forget coles' policy: bring in woolworths poor fresh produce/breads, we will refund with without asking.

    • Even after we have "used" a watermelon ;)

    • Is it true? even I got no receipt?

      • They generally do anything just to make you happy.

      • yea even without a receipt and u had eaten half a bread..

  • I bought a Whole watermelon at woolies.
After I opened it, I found it is crab..
Looks like they freeze the watermelon for a long time…..
I just throw it away… a opened watermelon is too big and heavy for a refund….

    • Generally, a receipt should be fine, it's not always easy to return the item, maybe a photo on a phone for extra proof

      • That is a good idea. I will remember about the photo for sure.

  • At IGA don't you get 200% refund? Woolworth's method definitely costs them less to sustain.
