COVAU cutting FIT by 50%

For anyone on Covau energy 11c FIT. I was just given 4 days notice of a cut by 50% to 5.5c/kwh. Underhand tactics showed low down in an email after boasting about great rewards I could get on their rewards program. I will be complaining to the Ombudsman this is just a head up for anyone who didn't spot it. Goto wattever.com.au to compare all deals if you want to switch providers.

Wasting your energy, taking out your anger using the ombudsman resource which could've help an elderly couple being overcharged hundreds of dollars.

Look for a clause in your energy agreement that they can change the retail FiT rate anytime. Fact they gave you 4 days notice is bonus.

4 days is a bit stingy. Takes 10 days to change providers (at least in Victoria).

Solar FIT rate is beginning to be a bit of a joke. There is not much incentive for people to feed back into the grid. Even without subsidies having people pay for solar and feeding into the grid is basically zero investment to green the grid.

The latest and the best is AEMO being able to turn off your solar if the grid has too much solar and also tax you for the pleasure of feeding back in so poor people isn't paying for the infrastructure (they aren't complaining about the solar feed in which is reducing wholesale energy costs). Distribution and network charges will keep on going up. If they are not careful people are going to get a battery and get off the grid.

  • The FIT scheme was never sustainable.

It was a play to get people to mass adopt solar panels, then slowly turn off the tap and as a last step charge people to feed the network.

It was a 200 IQ play that was brilliantly executed.

  • I'll run back through that agreement to check it. Thanks.

  • Gotta protect that coal resources sector.

Nothing helps you meet emissions targets like removing incentives on solar and charging a road user tax on EV’s.
