I still have like 3 bags of the stuff to go through. It's so good.

  • can these be frozen to increase shelf life?

Another vote for the cold brew concentrate goon. Get the best, creamiest milk you can find and cut to taste.

    • this sounds like it'd work great with vietnamese iced coffee, if you could get the condensed milk to dilute

      • liking that idea - tiny splash of boiling water in the condensed milk, add coffee+ice and bam! cà phê sữa đá

    What is the shelf life?

I think they had a use by up to 6 months in advance from my pack, but can't be certain.

Pack says drink within 2 weeks once opened, but I kept going another two weeks with little (if any) deterioration in quality. In reality, they put the two week warning there as these packs are bought in by cafes who don't want to cold brew themselves. Keeps sales, freshness and brand quality up!

My goon bags have had a 6 month expiry. Though for freshness they do recommend consuming within 2-3 weeks of breaking the seal.

  • Even if you only purchase one bag, it works out as free shipping.

    • that's weird..i had 1 in cart and had postage.. let me try
edit nope still getting $12.65 to QLD. Tried 2 bags, then 1.

      • I meant that the discount basically offsets the standard postage.

One bag at the discounted rate plus postage is now cheaper (to Melbourne - guilty of not checking every postcode soz) than what the bag normally goes for pre-postage.

Works out as (for lack of a better phrase) 5 cents shipping to QLD. Or minus 10 cents, iirc, to Melbs.

        • Ah right, got excited for a second, went through a whole morale dilemma of stacking discounts from a small business if it turned out 1 bag actually had a glitch for free shipping etc but turns out I had just misinterpreted your message.

Yeah, for sure this deal is best taken for multiple bags (2+)

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Yeah 5 bags seems ideal. BTW I didn't make that postage price bold intentionally. It decided to carry over from the cut and paste.

I'm genuinely curious about the product tho'. Do you know whether you just pour them out to be the same size as an espresso then add milk?

And how they compare to the taste of a freshly ground and poured espresso?

I've got a grinder that sounds like the devil screaming and one of those Sunbeam twin thermoblock machines that sounds like a jackhammer and these bags might come in handy for late nights or when I don't want to offer other people a cuppa.

@eloque: You pour out a 'shot/s' and 'cut' it with milk or water to taste. Im also curious how it would go over vanilla icecream, or maybe espresso martini.

This mob gets rave reviews so Im sure it will be awesome if you're into cold brew.

@Jimothy Wongingtons: We sell a lot of our Wide Awake Concentrate bags to bars and restaurants who use it for deserts and espresso martinis! It's delicious <3

              • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Cheers! Yeah I used to work near them and discovered them back in the day on the under. Can't really remember much about cold brew other than maybe a bit less of a kick.

            • @eloque: Hey legend! Cold brew is a very different way of brewing coffee and tends to be a bit less acidic and easier to drink than espresso. It's also a bit easier on the stomach compared to freshly ground coffee.

Orthodox is bold with tasting notes of chocolate, butterscotch and caramel - great on its own on ice for a strong iced black coffee. Or add in milk for an iced late - it cuts through milk very well.

The Wide Awake concentrate is great for making cocktails and/or cutting it down with water and/or milk - it's our strongest coffee blend with a dark roast profile.

These bags are great to keep in the fridge and grab a glass when needed, much easier and quieter (!) than grinding ;)

              • @canecuttter: Hey Tom, thanks for the response - nice to know! No doubt it kicks the butt of instant - heck even my kettle's loud. I need me some of this secret squirrel shiz.

  • Always tempted to try something new, something different.
Is it literally, just cold coffee, pre made?

    • Yes

    • Cold brew coffee! Instead of being made with not water, it's made with cold water which gives it a slightly more delicate taste.

  • OP, this is still on - ends Wednesday 8am :)
