Magnetic Tiles Recommendations Please (Cheaper than Connectix)

Hi, I'm looking at buying magnetic tiles for the kids (2.5yo and 5yo). I'm aware that Connectix is the best one out there but they are quite expensive.

Does anyone have any experiences with other brands such as PicassoTiles and Steam Studio? I'm keen to know their quality, magnet strength etc..

Thanks.

    • thanks. I saw that one. But no reviews on those generic brands. :(

  • You can try Kmart ones. My child only play with them actively two days tops. Most of the times it is in the box and when he took them out, he would play it for maybe 5 - 10 mins max. Some of them actually becomes fridge magnet today to hold some paper lol..

Ps: He loves building lego though and can sit there for hours (lego creator 3 in 1), because it has the instruction and look much nicer when it is built.

    • thanks. Yea thats my worry. Don't want to spend too much to find out they are not interested :( don't want to get super cheap stuff either in case they are easy to break etc.

they do play Duplo atm and quite creative with that.

    Kmart ones.

In regards to kids only playing with things for short time, we started rotating toys. So we have different storage boxes with different sets of toys and some go to the shed for a month and some stay in the play room area and some stay in the bedrooms. So currently duplo and wooded blocks are out, were magnetic tiles, train set and music shakers are in the shed. Lego and toy cars are in the bedroom.

Compliments to the wife for setting it all up, but organisation for toys is essential for kids to play longer.
