Quite shocking to see you consider those over 24 a waste of your time.

Quite shocking that some "old" people (those over 24) are so entitled.

Young people need more help to get started, some free education (providing that this offer is genuine) could go a long way.

      • At that age young people just got out of 13 years of free education…. The courses should be more widely available and far higher number of positions available.

The issue is that Australias/NSW's education system does not teach people what they need to know or many skills that are transferable.

If schools focused more on problem solving skills, risk identification and mitigation, logical thinking and how to self educate these courses would not be anywhere near as needed. Same goes for creative thinking, trade skills etc for those not as academically minded. It takes all types to make a society.

We definitely don't see over 24 as a waste of time! (I fit into that category a bit too easily myself).

These free courses are part of the NSW Government Summer Skills program which focuses solely on providing school leavers and young people with some free training courses to help them into employment.

We've previously offered a range of other free courses ( not limited to age!) as part of other government initiatives such as the Job Trainer program and the Skills for Recovery program and hopefully, there will be more available in the future as well.

  • Hmm - the age restrictions are part of the NSW govt program - https://education.nsw.gov.au/skills-nsw/skills-initiatives/s…
Seems there are heaps of alternative courses offered by other providers.
I suppose the OP is advertising it here for their institution because they don't show up in the NSW govt page…

edit: OP fails to mention the following:

    Am I eligible?
You must be aged 16-24 and have left school. Also you must be living or working in NSW (Australian/New Zealand citizen or humanitarian visa holder).

    Key dates
Participants need to register by 31 December 2021.

Courses should be completed by 30 April 2022.

    • Good point out of the fact we aren't showing on the government page- I'm really not sure why we aren't there but I've escalated it to see why that could be the case. By the very fact, we are an RTO ( Registered Training Organisation) means we have to jump through the government hoops to be able to offer these courses and also that we wouldn't be able to offer them as Accredited Training courses without them being genuine.

For the eligibility criteria, I've double-checked and we definitely have it listed in the post above (I was a bit worried I missed off the key info there!).

And for the enrolment dates- we have those listed as well :-) Our dates are a little different from the ones you have quoted above from the gov website- as an RTO we get set criteria for delivering these courses. As in our dates above- the enrolments for our courses close on 26th November. We have all the details on our website as well if you needed to know any more information :-)
