Toll lost my laptop. They are conducting a nationwide search for it, but I have not heard a response in weeks. What should I do?

Good Guys had to have toll ship my faulty laptop back to them during lockdown (literal 4 minute drive from me) as they weren't taking instore warranty claims.

Laptop was picked up, a month later it still says its in transit.

I emailed good guys and they said they never received it, I called toll and they said its missing. Have received 1 callback to say there will be a nationwide search for it.

That was a week and a half ago. Now every time I call, I am told I will get a call-back with my case manager but I never do.

What should I do? Who do i speak to about this?

Thanks everyone./

    Put out an APB on the Laptop? lol

    Was your TGG purchase under Gold Service Product Support?

    Did you pay TGG via Paypal and return it using https://www.paypal.com/au/webapps/mpp/returns

    Have you got any Paperwork from Toll when they collected it?

    Was it insured?

    It takes more than 10 days to complete their investigation. They have nothing to tell you, other than they haven't found it. Once they have either found it, or realized they never will, they will get in touch with you.

    Who engaged Toll? If it was TGG then it's their problem to sort out. You didn't choose nor pay the courier so not your problem! Harass TGG.

    …there will be a nationwide search for it.

    That "nationwide search" will involve one office calling another:

    VIC: "You happened to see a laptop there, bro?"
    Sydney Office: "Nope"

      Search box: Types ref no.
      -> No results
      -> "nationwide search" completed

    Definitely TGG problem. If lost, they owe you a laptop

      ^^ this, just harass TGG, tell them "not my problem, need my laptop or a replacement, your delivery guys lost the faulty one, you sort it out, when can i pick up my replacement?"

    Toll once lost a $90,000 piece of speciality equipment. Their investigation is still 2 months ongoing. Speak to TGG and write to their head office if the store isn't helpful.

      Toll once lost a $90,000 piece of speciality equipment.

      It better have had insurance

      • Well of course but the problem was and still is the need for the equipment to be ready on the date specified. We can always repurchase but since it's a speciality equipment it will take some time to source and redelivered.

        Frustrating for both the clients and company as it's out of our control.

        • What is this "$90,000 piece of speciality equipment"?
