Canon Camera Cashback - Refusing to Honour Cashback

Anyone here have trouble claiming a cashback offer regarding Canon's camera cashback? I bought a brand new Canon R6 body fulfiled and delivered by Amazon directly.

I filled out the claim form like normal, then they replied to me saying that the tax invoice provided by Amazon doesn't confirm that payment has been made in full. It's normal for standard Amazon tax invoice not to show the payment method.

I also sent them the printable order summary which shows the payment method (Zip Money).

They still replied back rejecting the claim as they're not satisfied it's been paid in full.

I replied back with the usual ACCC/Consumer Affairs threats but they just gave a generic reply.

I called Consumer Affairs and spoke to a rep who said to try one more time, if they don't budge, then to try VCAT.

Amy I missing something here? Is there another type of Amazon invoice that I should be uploading? I can only see the usual tax invoice and the printable order summary. And Canon isn't satisfied with either.

  • they replied to me saying that the tax invoice provided by Amazon doesn't confirm that payment has been made in full.

These 2 sentences are not the same thing. They're looking for a full payment invoice. I've never used Zip but does neither of the PDFs in your Amazon Orders history show the full purchased amount?

Check the cashback T&Cs as well to see if this is a stipulated clause.

    • Contact Amazon and they will sort it out… Call them…

You are not the only one.

      • I'm not the only? Have there been issues in the past with Canon or is this a general thing with cashbacks in general?

        • I had same issue this time around, but now fixed.

    • It definitely shows the payment amount. Check here: https://imgur.com/y8qSeAT

I have no idea why Canon would not accept this as being valid.

      • Invoice does not say you 'paid'.
        That is the problem.

Just call Amazon and explain and they will sort it out.

I got my confirmation from Canon that it will be paid.

      • Does the tax invoice say the same thing? Only thing I can think of is because it's a 5% cashback rather than set amount (say $200), they want to see full purchase amount on invoice receipt.

Have you tried contacting [email protected] for more information on exactly what they want?

      • This is not a GST invoice

        Must be the culprit.

    Have you contacted Amazon?

They will contact Canon and sort it out.

    • Thanks for the heads up. Is there a Amazon phone number you can call? I can't seem to find it.

      • I just started the online enquiry that got me to a screen that got them to call me back.

        They called back immediately.

      • They were pretty good on the phone and sent a confirmation email that they would get back to me in 24-48 hours.

It was fixed within 2 days.

I did also sent an email back to Canon with a screen shot of my order payment, and credit card statement to prove I paid.

lol. Just spoke to Amazon over the phone (zero wait time, c'mon Centrelink, lift your game), they said they will follow it up 'internally' and contact Canon and will try and get someone to contact me back.

The rep I spoke to was very good, very level-headed and also baffled as to why Canon is being difficult with Amazon tax invoices.

      Thanks JV for the help.

      • No problem…

It should be fine. As I mentioned, it took around 2 days for me to get a confirmation from Canon after contacting Amazon.

why Canon is being difficult with Amazon tax invoices.

My understanding is that it is due to this…

But this is not in our control, and Amazon AU is a valid retailer for this offer in their advertising…

  • This appears to happen daily with the words amazon and cashback….

  • I think you need the actual tax invoice, not an order summary.

A tax invoice would be provided, but here is how to get it: Either ask Amazon or
…Go to 'Your Orders', find your item and on the top right, click on 'view tax invoice'

    • I think you need the actual tax invoice,

      Nope, read the comments.

      They didn't accept it.

The Amazon tax invoice does not mention payment has been made.
