Submersible pump for spa emptying

Hi all

Took delivery of our new spa recently and been using it with regularity. Thinking ahead to when we need to drain and refill, rather than just connecting a hose to the drain hole at the bottom and allowing gravity to do it's thing, we were told it could be a good idea to buy a cheap submersible pump as that would be quicker

Anyone with a spa got a view on this? If a pump is a good idea then any brands / models that give good bang for buck?

Cheers

Just get an ozito from Bunnings (about $80 I think).

    Edit : try $70

    Or

Just let gravity do its thing over night and put the $80 towards beer to drink in the spa.

    • I bought one of those to empty my pool. will empty a spa in minutes.

    • $80 would get me a FWK from my local home brew shop which would do me 20l of beer so that's not a bad idea.

The wife and kids ideally want minimal downtime in-between cleans though so it may be I need to get both things.

Thanks for the info. I will have a look at Bunnings.

Maybe gravity could do it's thing overnight and you can clean in the morning … and save yourself 70 nicka? I assume you're not looking to be in the thing 24/7?

    • Cool thanks for the links. I will get myself along to Bunnings for a look at these.

    • 4 years warranty what could go wrong

Multiple lengths of hose could be use silently and if you had enough of them you might get a good flow rate

    • Interesting, could get get the kids involved in this although I'm sure their input would probably be a one time thing…… Especially the teenage daughter.

  • Why is it so essential to do it quicker?
    Save your money.

Who told you that? the bloke selling the pumps?

  • There's a drain hole just for this and you want to buy a pump?
    I'm confused
By the time you spend going to Bunnings, shopping around etc the original drain hole would've emptied half the spa.

Just pop the plug and leave it IMHO.
