Pokemon Diamond Remakes Sealed copies

Did anybody get a sealed copy of diamond and pearl? Or have they come not sealed at all?

I got 2 dual packs but both were opened at JB

Usually JB are pretty good with seals so I am disappointed

They also stickered the receipts on the boxes even though it was a pre-order, pretty damn pissed about that, they aren't mint now but that's just collectors worries

Comments

  • My copy of Diamond was delivered unsealed by Toll, same happened with Mario Party Superstars and pretty much every switch game I have received from JB.

    they aren't mint now

    worthless

    • I know 😢

      Might flog em off

This is a Nintendo thing, not JB. Some AU Nintendo games aren't sealed from factory.

    • Yes, I realise Nintendo do this for quite a few games nowadays, which is why I was posting to an Aussie forum trying to scope out whether there are any sealed ones out there

It's interesting because the Sword/Shield dual pack came sealed

      The Sword expansion came sealed

      but these BDSP have not

Its luck of the draw but it looks like they haven't put them out sealed for anyone

      • My friend from JB said basically the same thing.
The shipments they get directly from Nintendo are randomly either sealed or unsealed.
He said that JB can possibly seal it for you, but it has a fair chance to wreck the plastic on the case, so they don't recommend it.
It's kinda annoying, but it's not really any stores fault, so there is not much to do about it

  • I've noticed it's quite rare to receive a sealed copy of a Nintendo Switch game. My Pokemon copies today weren't either unless you count the sticker Big W put on their games.

  • This is a common "problem" of Nintendo games here in Australia.

My cousin in the US sent me a photo with both pokemon games brand new sealed.

    • Yeah it is unfortunate, was putting out the feelers to see whether anyone got an Aussie copy sealed, looks as if its one of the games that won't come sealed

  • Did anybody get a sealed copy of diamond and pearl? Or have they come not sealed at all?

Yes, lots of people did. They are in the UK, EU, USA, Korea et al.

But you WILL NOT see a y-fold sealed copy OFLC-rated Nintendo first party titles any more. They (Nintendo AU/NZ) do the cover localisation on-shore and simply do not bother with a Y-fold seal.

    • I do realise that most games do not come with it but as recently as last year I got an AUS copy Y-Fold sealed Pokemon Shield + expansion pass

Would be interesting if anyone had received anything more current than that, I held hopes for Pokemon games due to that

  • My dual pack from jb didn't come sealed but the steelbook bonus was sealed. Interesting decision by Nintendo, everyother collectors switch steelbook I've received has been unsealed.

    • I have received about half sealed and half not

I believe they outsource this though

  • Good for the fish. No more plastic.
I was surprised I got the bonus pin when picking it up from JB when the website said the pin was only for delivery.
    The pin's ugly though…

    • It's sealed with cellophane not plastic, two entirely different things.

  • Yeah when I picked up my copy from JB today it wasn’t sealed. But nearly all of my Nintendo switch games I have pre ordered or bought have never been sealed. I think it’s a Nintendo thing because I do get sealed PS5/4 games from JB, Amazon etc…

    • Yeah it is definitely Nintendo, third party switch games do come sealed still but it seems as of recent Nintendo are about 99% unsealed games, may even be 100% after a certain point in time (Latest sealed game I received was Sword+Expansion in December last year)

AAA first party ninty don't come sealed. Im a storeman.

    • Most**

I have Animal Crossing Sealed, Pokemon sword/shield sealed, Pokemon Shield + expansion sealed and have seen others claim some other games such as BOTW
(All Aus stickered, PG, G etc)

Unfortunately it seems nearly 99% of the first party ninty games are not sealed nowadays

Was really hoping the Pokemon special edition had a chance to be sealed but may need to import if I decide I want a sealed copy.

      Lies

My BOTW, Pokemon Sword / Shield AUS copies are factory sealed.

      And you're a terrible Storeman

      • I know im a horrible storeman

  • I think it is to do with security? The nature of the game cartridges mean that they need the ability to open and inspect them

    • Why?

      Whats the difference with discs?

Whats the difference with sealed 3rd party games?

I think Nintendo are just cheap

      • According to this comment, it's something to do with cartridges coming from Japan mated with locally produced cases and they don't bother sealing them here due to some QA check requirement.

Apparently, reprints that may be manufactured here can come sealed hence why some of them are. So you're best waiting few months to get a reprint if you want a sealed one for collection.

Doesn't explain why my Made in Japan - AU version - locally bought - Pokemon Sword was sealed but going to assume that distributor knows better…
