Considering the attitude to these at my work "free" is not good enough and they'd have to pay people to do them :P

    • The ones I've used have been very good (eg. Julie Lerman for Entity Framework) or excellent (Scott Allen for other .net stuff).
All the free stuff I've tried from Udemy has been aweful though :(

  • Free IT courses are good start to build the foundation and with a good practice you can become a professional within a year or two. However, a lot of employers requires certifications these days and sadly most of them aren't free.

    • Why not just pay for them then? Think of them as an investment on your self development.

  • Ah so pluralsight is mainly just videos.. there are a few projects however for python

Pluralsight has some great courses, but their regular free trial is almost a scam. I say enjoy the free trial, and sign up to the monthly service if you like it.

They proudly advertise a ten day trial, and in the fine print, says they'll charge you for a full year if exceed three HOURS.
The default amount is 449 USD a year, 620 AUD.

Yeah, this happened to me. When you sign up, they do tell you it's going to renew for a year. But no mention of that afterword, definitely not in the "your trial is almost over" emails and then BAM you get billed for a year. Anyone interested in buying a pluralsight subscription with 11 months remaining for aud $250? :) :( Might put that in the forums …

You might have some luck if you post this on classifieds section of ozbargain

That's terrible. So if you hit 200 minutes you can't cancel? I thought there was a "trial mode" where you simply can't access more content after 200 minutes, but being forced into a subscription would really suck. This is why we need Revolut Disposable cards.

    • Nice info…

But this is not the same deal and doesn't ask for any financial/card details so can't deduct any amount whatsoever.

You are 100% correct, this trial is safe, but their normal free trial isn't.

  • Any course can be completed over the weekend can be completed on Monday after your standup.

  • Not free.

    • Only the love of God is good and free, yet not everyone wants it.

      • Sounds a bit creepy
