Clutch Replacement Needed - Melbourne (or A Place That Would Hire Hoist)

Hi,

I need to replace the clutch on my Toyota Spacia 1999 van. Very easy job on this car with a hoist, I have done it before.

I already have all parts, looking for an honest and cheap place to get the job done. Alternatively if somebody knows a place where I can hire a hoist for a couple of hours that would be great.

I'm located in inner Melbourne, but happy to drive.

Cheers

Maybe try a car forum if chasing a hoist to borrow?

Surely there would be a few blokes with a hoist willing to let it get used for a carton or two?

    • Or hired out for the weekend for a carton. Bathurst is coming up and may be a perfect weekend to borrow it and do it on the Saturday so you can watch the race.

It'd be more exciting than watchin taxi's play follow the leader or hours….

        • I loved it before the V8 super cars took over. Now I watch it for in total about 90 minutes over the day, 2 to 5 minutes and then the last 30 minutes.

          • @AndyC1: Commodores and falcons are dead, let it die… Sadly its all about TV, like most "sports" now.

            • @pharkurnell: It’s not sport, it’s entertainment.

            • @pharkurnell: No, the volvo bricks from the 1970's or was it the 1980's were the best to watch IMHO.

@AndyC1: Anything actually road car based is good to watch, supercars are boring as hell these days, tube chassis all the same etc.

    Do you have room on your property? There are mobile car hoist hires available also;

    DIY Garage in Campbellfield
    Self serve automotive in Dandenong
    Concept automotive industries in Eltham

Not sure if they are still operating following covid.

Also check out "car hoist hire" or "hire a hoist" on Gumtree - some at home and professional garages rent out time on this platform.

    • just curious, how much does a good hoist usually cost? and any issues with council if have hoist at home?

    • Thanks mate, I'll check out the places you listed. I only have a small townhouse garage, not much space unfortunately.
