Off The Rack Suit Brands and Tailor Recommendations - Sydney

Hey guys,

Looking for recommendations in terms of OTR suits for someone who is working in finance and need it for everyday. Majority of my office is returning back to CBD.

I'm of a muscular/stocky build with broad shoulders, 34 waist, solid legs and always had issues with finding pants which fits. I had suits made from institchu and suit supply which are great for occasions given their $1000 - 1200 price tag but looking for suits which can be wore everyday. Ie jackets with 2 Pants under $1000 tailored.

Few of my friends who cycles a lot recommended Anthony Squires suit and gets them tailored. Any suggestions for good tailor, happy to travel around Sydney if I need to?

Any recommendations, I am thinking of Peter Jackson, Anthony Squires, Studio Italia? I'm after something of decent quality, not over the top. Love MJ bale jackets which are pretty much tailored to my build but the pants fits like Compression leggings. I was looking at 36 size Pants in slim fit.

Thanks in advance

  • Avoid slim fit and just have the tailor take in the jacket.

    • That's the plan, just dont know which brand is tad better.

  • Oscar hunt if you have deep pockets.

  • suit supply can make that for you. I only wear custom suits. buy once, cry once.

    • Bit exxy with two pants and a jacket. especially, I looking for 3x suits.

      • ahhh, i see.
just get separates. you can wear a navy jacket everyday, and match it with navy, black, grey pants. dress shirts, undershirts, socks, underwear, and ties is what you will change most often. your outfits will look different with different color shirts and ties.
for me its worth spending more for higher quality, material, and durability. buy once, cry once. initially its expensive, but in the long term it's cheaper since you don't have to buy over and over again.

  • I've recently been using Peter Jackson for cheaper everyday suits that are still decent quality. No problems with them.

You can also get them to tailor it if the fit isn't quite right.

    • Thanks, I am thinking of peter Jackson, what do you think of fit? quality?

For me the fit is perfect off the shelf with the slimmer styles. I guess I'm lucky there with my average slim build (I am quite tall though but no issue there). Reading your comments on your build though, you may require a bit of tailoring, which is a service they offer if you didn't want to find your own tailor.

Quality-wise I have no issues, especially at this price point. The finish is generally good too. I've had more expensive suits with worse finishes.

Thanks mate. Tailoring is pretty much given in my case. LOL. Just need to find a good tailor around north shore region.
