  • Wonder what the conditions of the free credit are

Looks like the email it tells you to check for is not automated… Hope it arrives

    Slurpin marketing list

Note how they seemingly make a reference to fine print with "**" **

Without even providing the fine print

    • Hi there, the terms and conditions for the Public Cloud offer is available on the footer of this link: https://www.ovhcloud.com/en-au/lp/public-cloud-trial/

      • Credit only for 1 month?

Seems a bit dodge compared to standard 12-month free tier trials

Especially if the person sending the email never sends the code before the validity expires. Hopefully the setup process is unobtrusive

No wonder you did not want to include it in the post or comment

        • -1

          Hello @UsernameChecksIn
Thank you for the feedback, I have added it in the description. Please also note the code must be activated before nov 29th 2021.

          • @OVH ANZ: 29 November 2021 is what I thought it might be initially, to be consistent even more dishonest practices.

However, your conditions explicitly show the year 2022 as the code activation period - so lucky us!

            Bait and switch

Don't worry - saved and archived the pages

Any reason why the US servers aren’t available and I have to create a separate U.S. account?

    • Hi there, sorry about the inconvenience. Unfortunately the US is a separate entity. However if you are interested we do have Canadian servers hosted in Beauharnois, Quebec.

So what’s the chance of the new Ryzen line up making it to Australia in the next few days ?

    • Hello @firejack, we are on it! We expect Ryzen dedicated server hosted in Australia to be live late december or early january.

  • So how do we remove ourselves from the 36-month data marketing list (and verify that this has occurred)

    (1) Voucher is provided by email after filling the online form or by calling our Asia-Pacific Sales team. Voucher is valid for your first Public Cloud project only and is limited to one per NIC handle (username). The free credit provided can be used for all Public Cloud services and in all regions except Asia-Pacific regions (Sydney & Singapore datacenters). To use the public cloud services with the voucher, you need to accept the applicable terms of service listed on the OVHcloud website. The activation code for this voucher is valid until November 29th 2022 and the free credit provided is valid for one (1) month starting from its activation. The free credit is automatically deducted in full from your next public cloud bill. This free credit has no monetary value, and cannot be exchanged, transferred or refunded. Once the free credit is exhausted, your account will be debited as normal each time you use the service. For this reason, you need to have a valid payment method registered in the OVHcloud Control Panel. If you would like to cancel this service without incurring any additional fees, you will need to cancel your projects in the OVHcloud Control Panel before your usage exceeds the total credit balance covered by the voucher. Trial is free when a Credit Card payment method is saved on your OVHcloud Control Panel and is used to activate your first Public Cloud project. If Paypal payment is selected, you will be required to pre-pay A$15 worth of credits upfront (with validity for 13 months). Pre-paid Public Cloud credits are non-refundable.

    (2) If accepted, the data communicated via this form will be collected by OVH SAS acting as a data controller. It may be transmitted solely for the purposes described below to other entities of the OVH group, and to subcontractors acting in the name of, on behalf of and at the direction of OVH. In this case, OVH SAS ensures that a sufficient protection mechanism is in place. As such, data transfers to entities of the OVH group located outside the European Union are governed by OVH's binding company rules. The data is processed for a period of 36 months with your consent, in order to provide you with offers concerning the infrastructures, products and services offered by the OVH group.

    • Hello @UsernameChecksIn,
if you don't want to receive marketing email, please do not tick the last box when filling the form at https://www.ovhcloud.com/en-au/lp/public-cloud-trial/
If you already did, simply click on unsubscribe on the email you received after filling the form.
      Hope this helps

      • That would be fine for the generic marketing receiving-side spam part

However, what about the complete deletion from the internal company databases and "associated" third parties with the procedures implemented with GDPR

        Which parts are covered?

  • Website says the activation code must be redeemed by November 29th 2022

    Email code never arrives

Now rep says the code is only valid until 29 November 2021 - no deal, at least for that part.

(Which means you have to hope that the person responsible for checking email redemption forms is fast enough to send [if they ever do], and that the account sign-up process is not laborious with a waiting period)

I should have known better and wait until the deal posts actually get upvoted and analysed by other OzBargainers. OVHCloud OVH ANZ has minimal upvotes in their post history. Will leave this to other OzBargainers to compare. The defects here make me wary

Or stick to the main providers that offer more accessible and streamlined free tier and free trial offerings first before making a bet with OVH in Australia

Oracle, Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure

Hello UsernameChecksIn, We sincerely apologize for this mistake from our side about the expiry date of this code, we will fix it asap. I confirm it is 29 November 2021.
Regarding email, the process seems to work fine, and I'm also happy to send you the code in private message.
Please also note we offer free trial all year long, but with a lesser amount.
      Hope this helps

      • Surely the legalese at the time of submission is what is in effect.

Changing it after sounds like misleading conduct consistent with the procedures shown by OVH

Not sure how this falls under ACCC

Otherwise delete all the information from the unsuspecting form submissions and notify customers? Hard to retract and put toothpaste back in the tube now breached!~

What counts as subsidiaries and subcontractors. Sounds like data is being siphoned off to any market bidder

        • Hello @UsernameChecksIn
We have changed on our website for all new public cloud code request, but will honor any previous request based on time of submission indeed.
          Hope this clarifies

Kept getting error adding the voucher code

An error has occurred adding the voucher. code not found

    • Trepidation of worst pretenses realised

They now want to start an obtrusive manual KYC check before even considering to manually send a code

Not great for a code that doesn't come or, if comes, doesn't work

Cordoning this off to spam telemarketers

    • Hello @kelvinsmj,
Feel free to contact me via MP to help solving your issue. Please make sure you enter your voucher when creating your first public cloud project in the Public Cloud section of your control panel. (https://imgur.com/y3rzdb9)
If you have already created your first Public cloud project without a code, you may add the code in the credit and voucher section on left hand side of your project.
      Hope this helps.

      • Tha ksm. It works when creating an instance. Doesn't work trying to add it under voucher section of payment.

      • Why is OVH asking me to pay $15 to create the public cloud project, even after I've entered the voucher code?
Is this from my credit card or from the voucher credit?

To get started quickly and harness the power offered by the OVHcloud Public Cloud, please pay a total of A$ 15. This total will be converted in to credits*, which you can use on your project.

*Credits cannot be transferred or refunded, and do not have any monetary value. Any credit that has not been used within 13 months of purchase will be lost. Click “Credit and create my project”, and you will be redirected to an invoice to pay for your credits via payment card or PayPal.

  • 500Mbps or 250Mbps is those the minimum or maximum outbound speed?
and SSD SATA is that SSD SATA3 not NVMe?

  • +1

    Hello @s12321,
500Mbps or 250Mbps and we also have 1Gbps,3Gbps,10Gbps servers (depends on the chosen server) is the maximum outbound speed indeed.
That said on some dedicated server burst is allowed (during peak traffic or for on-demand high speed for software updates).
Regarding SSD SATA version, i would need to confirm depending on the server you are after, but it is not NVMe. (We have SSD NVMe option on some servers and clearly mention in the disk configuration selection)
    Hope this helps.
