That build is on 'special' for what really should be its RRP
Everything is entry level. Wired hybrid disc brakes are death traps as well. Either go full rim or hydraulic disc.

    Weight: Bicycle net weight 16.2kg

I have to re-assess what a lightweight bicycle is.

    • whats wrong with wired hybird disc brakes?

    • nothing wrong with mechanical disk brakes mate. sure, not as good as hydraulic but way easier for maintenance for a casual rider.

Working in a bike shop we'd have these entry level bikes with mechanical disk brakes come in all the time asking for us to 'tune them up'

Turns out no amount of tuning up could get them to work as well as dedicated rim brakes/hydraulics. Can't polish a turd.
Even the cheapest, worst hydro's were better (and probably cost the same to manufacture.
May as well of specced rim brakes.

  • Just don't take it off-road

  • 16.2 kg at $299 is just normal price

  • How much better is the new Aldi 29er than this ?

Craptastic bike. I'd hazard to say even a Reid would be a better build…

Avoid. At this price it's not even a bargain. It should be RRP (and even then would be more than should be paid for this crap).
