Xbox Live Gold direct from different countries?

Is it possible to purchase Xbox Live Gold directly from xbox.com from another country?

With the Turkish Lira dropping so much, it'll cost under $AU20 if we could purchase it from xbox.com/tr-TR/

I know I can use 3rd party sellers but they're still charging $45 for codes. And I'd feel better not using these 3rd party sellers.

I have an Australian and a US payment method attached to my Xbox account, I'm familiar vith VPNs, and I usually buy games from the US store because they are cheaper.

I have not personally had any experience with buying the actual subscription (instead of games) but I know that Microsoft makes this process more difficult to buy games from countries such as Argentina , Brazil.

I have an Argentinian payment method linked to the same Xbox account, but I couldn't be bothered to jump through the geoblocking hoops Microsoft has put up on those countries (because they are the cheapest or close to the cheapest depending on item).

Turkey firmly sits in that bargain basement pricing bin, with games being often cheaper than in those other countries.

I'd be wary, but if it works for you, it may be worth the risk.

It just depends if you can afford to to risk that $20 or not (in other words, I think it's a gamble).

  • That's right, I forgot about payment methods. Without a credit card from the country you're buying from it's pretty hard to purchase anything. Thanks.

    • I got lucky with PayPal and even an Australian Mastercard, back in the day, when they weren't so strict about checking the origin of payment methods.

P.S I did have to open a US PayPal account to be able to add it as a payment method, now PayPal requires US phone number confirmation before you can create a US account.

Now PayPal in the US keeps sending me PayPal credit offers lol.

Edit: Microsoft still wouldn't process the payments/purchases even after I successfully added the different payment methods from time to time (maybe 50% of the time).

Then I gave access to my account to a cousin in Europe (I have years of Game Pass Ultimate and I wasn't really using it).

Anyway, it seems that as soon as he logged in with a PC into my account (from a non VPN IP address) Microsoft has not rejected my other payment methods (even though they are in the US and Canada, not Europe).

This unpredictability of all of that made me comment that it's basically "luck" or gambling.

    • You may want to ask the other commenter below, about buying overseas Xbox credit (I think that's what he or she meant) it sounds like you may have more luck doing it that way (but I haven't tried it, so I have no idea if it works or how it works).

  • It’s easier to just buy redeem codes. $35 should land you Xbox Game pass ultimate for 36 months

    • Hey mate where can I find it for $35? I'm looking to buy 36 months at the moment.
