RAM Upgrade for Alienware M15 R5 (Ryzen Edition)

I’m looking at upgrading my slow 16gb Samsung RAM with a faster 32gb one. I’m not really a technical person, so I don’t really know much difference between models. But I do know it can only take a 1.2V RAM and will have issues with 1.35V ones.

I’m currently looking between the two but not really sure what the difference is, and google isn’t that much help either

I’m open to any other recommendations under $300

  • Apparently this kit for $243 has best compatibility with AMD

    • I don't see the rank anywhere on the listing. Do you have a source to show that? I've been looking for 2rx8

      • Not sure on the rank.
I looked up the model number KF432S20IB1K2/32
Lead to the spec sheet which says 2Rx8

        • +1

Thanks for that. That 2Rx8, and these timings are important for a ryzen system: Default (Plug N Play): DDR4-3200 CL20-22-22 @1.2V

I believe that the crucial ram in the first link is also the same timings

    • Thanks! I’ll look into it

  • The first one specifies that it is dual rank, which will be faster for your system. The second doesn't say, so it's a gamble what you will get, because they make that ram in both dual rank and single rank configurations.

    • Yeah, that’s what sort of putting me off. But I cant find anywhere else that sells that same Dual Rank other than Amazon US. I wasnt sure if they just had a different model name for AU

  • I've found some local computer stores do, and some at similar prices to your first link.

Maybe see if any of these are nearby: https://staticice.com.au/cgi-bin/search.cgi?q=ddr4+3200+dual…
I haven't included sodimm in the search terms because some of them refer to notebook instead

    • Are they the same model? The one in your like is CT16 and the one i linked is CT2K16. Not sure if its just regional differences
